On Tuesday, president-elect Donald Trump announced in a Truth Social post that any "person or company" investing $1 billion or more in the US would "receive fully expedited approvals and permits, including, but in no way limited to, all Environmental [sic] approvals." "GET READY TO ROCK!!!" Trump exclaimed.

At least they are being brazenly honest about letting the richest have special rules. How great is this for MAGA and FOX, whom complained incessantly about imaginary separate rules for the imaginary rich deep state?

As usual, the Trump haters get it all wrong.

Trump's post wasn't at all about "normal environmental rules". It was only about how FAST the approval and permitting process is.

Look up the word "expedited".

I'm sure Musk understands enough English to know what Trump was talking about and that's why he's happy.

Special expediting for a privileged few is not part of "normal environmental rules." So, you are fine with "expediting" and skirting environmental rules and protection rule qualifications for the richest billionaire class, but not others -- correct? Why is Elon so giddy? Did you read the rest of the article, so you can elaborate how it is no different from normal?

Going through the process faster does NOT mean relaxing any rules or regulations...or, it shouldn't. If there are rules and regulations who's only purpose is to make it harder to get permits and approvals or to make it take longer to get them, then those are rules and regulations that need to be tossed in the trash.

How can he do this? Are the permitting people supposed to overlook their jobs and due diligence in the process? Are the applications to be rubber stamped? And what of those smaller investors? Isn't small business the backbone of our economy? Why should the rich get preferential treatment. Usually, the jobs with bigger corporations are the worst jobs that treat workers and the environment the worst, and view paying fines as the 'cost of doing business,' with no intention to change their ways. And it's true. some of the violating corporations have been repeatedly fined for the same violations. After all, you can't put a corporations in jail.

The rich are above the law, whether they are real persons or SCOTUS defined "persons."

Solving that isolated problem is not equivalent to creating a blanket exemption for those with wealth above a billion. Once again, your side likes to create specious arguments for the true intentions behind these exceptions.

For once I agree with the Trump Haterz. Everyone should get expedited approvals, not just the billionaires!

We should fire, say 3/4ths of the staff and put the others on notice. Do your jobs and get those approvals out.

It's not about "wealth". It's about investment.

Or, do you think only billionaires are the ones who invest money? I don't. I'm sure groups of millionaires often get together and create billion dollar investments.

Once again, your side likes to create specious arguments for the true intentions behind these exceptions.
yawn...

When you start wielding your broad brush and when you start talking about what you think are "true intentions", it's time for me to move on.

Bye.

This is a good move. We need fast growth on a massive scale. It is the beginning of a new age of prosperity for America.

Trump is the plutocrats wet dream come true.

What are they investing in? And for whose benefit?

So less people will somehow get the job done faster. That won’t work.

Meanwhile, small business interests can get in line.

So there won’t be sufficient environmental impact studies done.
