Election Challenges and Lawsuits

Well I think we all see the trend going on, WI has been called for Biden, he's leading in just enough states that if everything goes as is currently projected, he'll get 270.

That means Trump is going to fire up his lawyer team he had on standby to start challenges/lawsuits. So I thought I'd make a thread where in we can post updates to the challenges and lawsuits moving forward for the 2020 Presidential Election Cycle.

Apparently they will request recount of WI.

Cost $3 million and won't happen for a couple of weeks.

Last time around the recount netted him a grand total of...

131 votes.

So we know at this point he's going to demand a recount in WI and apparently is mobilizing for lawsuits in MI.

And he looks like a hypocrite because he tried to stop one that jill stein requested in 2016.
 

I've been carefully scrutinizing the data (in some detail) all morning, technically Biden has good reason to be confident.

Trump's lead in PA was 511,637 votes fours hours ago, now its fallen to 393,000, if - as we're told - most votes now being counted are in fact Biden votes, then there's huge scope for Trump's lead to vanish within a few more hours.

Couple this with the fact he has WI and very likely NV and it seems quite plausibly MI, Trump's dream of a second term really does look like its over.

Trump's and his bandits are not dumb and know this is a strong possibility so he'll do what he does best, lawsuits, lies, accusations and so on - the idiot must be stopped and he will be.

PS: It would be wonderful if a recount in WI ended up increasing Biden's lead!

The cost of a suit is not of concern when it's paid for by other people's money.

Well I don't think we've had recounts that have actually overturned the result of an election, but there's so many close races here, who knows.
 
As the counts continue, it's interesting to see the odds among the political punters. One site notes them at 3 p.m. today, 11/4/2020 as 4:1 Biden. It will be interesting to follow the odds during the next week or so.

The interesting thing about the PA lawsuit is that it seems that Trump is going to the SCOTUS for this. The last time SCOTUS refused to rule on the counting votes after the election day, but now he has his new judge, so it seems that he might get his way.

The Republicans seem to fear counting votes.
 
No. The issue is not counting votes after election day. It's ballots received after election day.

A recount must be granted if the win is less than 1% - and Wisconsin does not certify an election until Dec 1st. So Democrats in state government and every Democratic election division have almost a month to create enough ballots to push it past 1% to block a recount. Figure that will happen.
 

You have to keep in mind the distinction between reality and what Trump says.

He's not going to go straight to SCOTUS, because he can't. SCOTUS is an appellate court, and has no original jurisdiction to hear the President whine about votes against him being counted.

Prediction: There will not be a recount in Wisconsin..
