Egypt brokers a cease fire, Israel accepts, Hamas rejects [W:39]


I read about this earlier. Even for the most ardent supporters of Hamas, this should make them think twice about their support.

I hope you are safe in Israel. Just know, that there are many here in the US that support you and your country in your fight against terrorists and murderers.

Not quite accurate.

Hamas political wing accepts it and Hamas military wing rejects it whilest other groups within Gaza both reject and accept it.

Which simply brings forward another question: Why should Israel negotiate with an "organisation" that so obviously cant keep it`s **** together?

Nothing is as pathetic as such obvious disorder as one sees within Hamas.
 

Do you have a link for that? All I can find is that Hamas rejected it. No word on certain factions accepting and other rejecting.

What I'm finding is very similar to this article by CNN that states that the PLO and other Palestinian organizations may be in favor of it, but Hamas is not.

Israel stopped firing. hamas didn't.

So no, no ceasefire.

Will be interesting to see how pro-Palestinians blame the Jews for this one.

I've just read on a facebook post some italian leftards claiming that that's a "clear sign" that hamas is an Israeli government's puppet...

A ceasefire (or truce) is a temporary stoppage of a war in which each side agrees with the other to suspend aggressive actions.

Hence it cant be a ceasefire because both sides did not agree.

At best it is a stop of aggression by one side during negotiations.

You can have unilateral ceasefires. A ceasefire is nothing more than a temporary cessation of fighting and/or violence. In any event this is silly quibbling. There was a was a ceasefire proposal put onto the table, one party accepted it's tenants and ceased firing, the other did not. Calling it a 'temporary suspension of aggression' is just deflection.

What? I said it wasn't a ceasefire because Hamas declined to stop firing rockets at civilians (i.e., it declined to cease engaging in war crimes)

At best it is a stop of aggression by one side during negotiations.

What negotiations? It was very helpful in illustrating exactly what is going on. So unless you got a way to spin this to blame the Jews, it may be a bit difficult for you to continue on here.

I think countries should stop wasting their time trying to broker peace deals between the Israelis and Palestinians. As far as the Palestinians are concerned the Israelis are nothing more than dirty land thieves and as far as the Israelis are concerned they have a God given right to that land because their ancient ancestors once lived there. I do not think that is something that can be worked out with simple peace deals.One side is going to have to beat the other side into submission.

Precisely. Hamas wasn't invited to negotiate a cease-fire and they only found out about it when the media started reporting it. Once again, its just another situation in which Hamas is told to give Israel whatever they want or Israel will bomb their civilian population. The Palestinians have been given the raw deal in every situation since 1948. They should be invited to the table at the very least.
 

The bottom line is that Israel was taking heavy fire from Gaza for 6 hours and returned no fire, today its as clear as crystal that the blood of Palestinian civilians is on Hamas hands

I've seen lots of idiotic comments on facebook posts and youtube over the years when it comes to the I/P situation. Idiots in all directions. I don't read them anymore, have not done for a good while.

Astounding. Not only is your statement utterly false, you're actually trying to blame Israel for adhering to a cease-fire agreement.

Israel wasn't 'told' anything either and there isn't anything to negotiate in a ceasefire proposal. You either agree to cease firing... or you don't. There is no table, there isn't anything to negotiate. This is how ceasefires were forged every other time. The implication some seem to have is that because Hamas wasn't expressly consulted they had no reason to stop shooting just because their opponent stopped shooting. Which is absurdly childish.
