The Earth just had its warmest winter on record, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced Wednesday.Winter is defined as the months of December, January and February in the Northern Hemisphere, and 90% of the world's population lives in the Northern Hemisphere. Those months are summer in the Southern Hemisphere.
Specifically, the Northern Hemisphere had its warmest winter on record, and the Southern Hemisphere had its fourth-warmest summer.
It's also the warmest year-to-date on record, NOAA said. February itself was the second-warmest February on record.
Temperatures for December–February beat the previous winter record in 2007 by 0.05 degrees, NOAA's National Climatic Data Center reported. Global temperature records go back to 1880.

Looks like the Eastern US was the only cool spot.
I'm just old enough to remember the ice storms in the PAC NW every winter we'd have terrible ice storms blanketing the area. Thanks to climate change a whole generation of Washingtonians and Oregonians will never remember the ice storms,
This is all

BUT BUT BUT!!!...
I can make snowballs! The pause! A paper that says Climate Change is not real! Fake recordings of temperature! Antarctica has more ice than ever before! FoxNews!
... Sorry, SD, I'm just bracing you from the usual garbage.

Bovine feces.
Yep all just a big worldwide conspiracy....

From Dr. Roy Spencer:
The Version 5.6 global average lower tropospheric temperature (LT) anomaly for February, 2015 is +0.30 deg. C, down a little from the January 2015 value of +0.35 deg. C (click for full size version):
Its an apples to oranges comparison. You are comparing satellite measurements of the troposphere to land surface measurements. Summary Information | State of the Climate | National Climatic Data Center (NCDC)
That is not to say that satellite measurements are not a useful metric, but you can't compare one to the other without statistical normalization.
Actually this is exactly the type of warming we should be expecting from only the direct response of CO2.Earth had warmest winter on record

Well the Researchers do want more funding, but that does not make them evil, just Human!Do you think it would be easier to get the vast majority of scientists on board with a conspiracy or to get a handful of scientists on board with a conspiracy? I can't help but face palm when people actually suggest that all of these scientists are in cahoots with the government to trick us into believing global warming is real. Those evil scientists just want more funding. I hope the future generations that have to deal with this mess will at least appreciate that some of us weren't complete fools.
Just watch Watts Up With That? | The world's most viewed site on global warming and climate change for what their talking points will be on this.
I'll take a stab. The point will probably be that it is statistically insignificant. That is, that the amount of warming over previously years is pretty much undetectable.
Put another way. Suppose I weigh 150 lbs . Over a course of 20 years, I put on 20 pounds, now up I'm up to 170. For ten years my weight hovers around 170. Last year, it's 170 lbs and 6 oz.
Are the past ten years 'the heaviest I've weighed in my life'? yes
Is last year the heaviest year on record? yes.
Is there a ten year pause in my weight gain? Yes
Well actually its more like you eat 10 calories more a day than you burn. 10 calories seems insignificant in a 2000 calorie diet, but over time it adds up. It works out to gaining about 1 pound a year and 10 pounds a decade. Similarly, a little warmer every decade and overtime its a significant difference. Particularly considering that during the last ice age average global temperatures were only about 5 degrees cooler than they are now.
Do you think it would be easier to get the vast majority of scientists on board with a conspiracy or to get a handful of scientists on board with a conspiracy? I can't help but face palm when people actually suggest that all of these scientists are in cahoots with the government to trick us into believing global warming is real. Do you have a graph that doesn't conveniently begin in 1880? Perhaps one that goes back 10,000 years?
Except it hasn't been warmer the past decade. It's flattened out. And the amount of supposed gain in the past winter can't be distinguished from the accepted inaccuracy in the scale.
To beat this analogy to death, It's as if nutritionist calculated that if I ate x calories per day and did y amount of exercise , I would weigh 172 in ten years. But I don't.
Do you have a graph that doesn't conveniently begin in 1880? Perhaps one that goes back 10,000 years?
glad you asked, this makes it even more obvious.
