Is it considered a sin to do drugs or to be addicted to drugs?

I mean being intoxicated or "on drugs" alcohol and nicotine included....I guess Asprin too since that is considered to be "playing god"

I believe deliberately putting yourself into a state where your better nature cannot effectively control your actions is sin. A drug may or may not do that. For some people doing drugs may improve their mental function, such as a person who has depression taking a SSRI.

Well lets say that you are high on marijuana or buzzed on alcohol and you are completely aware of what you are doing?

People who use drugs should obtain no sympathy from others. Everyobody has it tough in this world. To seek refuge in them is a sign of cowardness. The system should put all these people in jails, if their "habit" interferes with social order.

You don't know what a drug is?

I am asking him, because his question was very broad and instead of writing a dissertation on the matter, I wanted him to narrow it down a little bit so I could provide a more focused answer.

Mere use, no, but addiction is abuse so addiction is a sin.

addiction started with abuse but addiction is a disease that the person has no control over.

Well then why did Jesus Christ himself use cannabis along with his followers not to mention his disciples took psilocybe during their ceremonies...

heh, that came way out of left field.

A crime against law...not humanity

I'm just saying that if Jesus used cannabis for "enlightenment" and if that was a common practice of Jewish rabbis at the time then how can being high on marijuana be considered a sin?

Do you have proof that he used cannabis?

Do you have proof that he used cannabis?

The only published article that made this claim was the magazine "High Times" (you can guess what they support) and even that report was a stretch. It claimed that one of the ingredients that might have been used in an ointment that Jesus might have prepared would have been a derivative of cannabis. They never made the claim that he smoked it, endorsed smoking it, or ever in any way was inebriated.

BTW, several news outlets picked up the story, High Times was just the first...to the best of my knowledge.

I never said that he smoked it I said that he used it in an oil and rubbed it on his body for "enlightenment" and that it was common practice of rabbis at the time

Ya, you did. Except you say that as if it was fact and to the best of anyone's knowledge, there is no way to know if he ever used it. It is just something stoners bring up to legitimize their stupidity.

Here are my exact words I said nothing about smoke and nobody has addressed the psilocybe comment either...

I think we just figured out which type of libertarian AndrewC23 is

Just because you think that I'm a stupid stoner does not change the fact that Jesus and ancient Jewish rabbis used cannabis frankenscense and myrh in their ceremonies and that Jesus's disciples took magic mushrooms during ceremonies.
