Drones are fast becoming 'much more lethal,' and this is only the beginning, US Army officer says

There's lots of drones out there. Drones are used to hunt other drones not just people and armor. The evolution of tactics has been fascinating to watch.

You try identifying a tiny thin cable with a drone camera moving at speed across a battlefield.

The cable leaves a trail all over. Kilometers of it. Sticks out like a sore thumb. Other drones equipped properly can see it and track it. One of the ways the drone operators with fiber optic cable controls have been protecting them is reeling in excess cable with a power drill and a spool and staying in wooded areas and using the drones as ambush traps. They use little power when idling sitting on the ground so they can lay and wait a long time like next to a road for example. Flying drones especially those with radio or satellite control use lots of power just for comms. Battery life on the battlefield is a big factor so is size. This is why things have moved towards stealth and fast movement. Low infrared signatures. Small vehicles. Motorcycles. Bikes. etc. Big things like tanks are big easily found targets.
