In a series of unpublicized revisions last month, the federal Bureau of Justice Statistics has removed all references to gender or gender identity from at least four federal surveys, The Appeal has confirmed. Experts say these changes will make it nearly impossible to monitor crimes and other forms of violence experienced by trans people.

Federal data on trans people is critical because surveys on minority groups require large sample sizes to be accurate. The four newly modified surveys sample hundreds of thousands of respondents each year. Private organizations don’t have the resources to collect data at that scale.

“The removal of sexual orientation and gender identity questions from federal surveys is devastating to our understanding of LGBT populations’ health and wellbeing,” Ilan Meyer, senior scholar for public policy and sexual orientation law at the Williams Institute of UCLA, told The Appeal via email. “Such data is important for setting policy goals for interventions. The removal of sexual orientation and gender identity data will leave policymakers, researchers, and advocates with no valid information on the victimization of LGBT people.”

Do I harbor any illusions that he actually would? Also no. But he's the POTUS - I know it's a lot to ask but we should be able to expect a measure of humanity/maturity from Donald in this chaos.
 
This right-wing propaganda demonization of transgender people is essentially the exact same as Nazi propaganda that Jews were a danger to their society and needed to be removed - done to get people to give them power. It's somewhat analogous to the period of right-wing propaganda that gay people were a danger to American children - and would destroy the institution of marriage.

I can't help but wonder if he's secretly attracted to trans people and this is him projecting, since that is probably more common a scenario that trans people being as dangerous as Al-Qaeda. Can I offer a theory of an explanation. View their 'politics' as a way for them to make money, and getting people to support them as how they get political power, and their main method to get that support is demagoguery spreading hate. For them, "transgender people want to kill you" is analogous to a car salesman saying "this is a great car". It's just "marketing" to benefit themselves. Same thing with Mexican immigrants.
