Seems Trump and Musk love big government control of private industry! Just like the true commies they are, DOGE wants all cordless power tools to adopt one uniform battery platform.

And they must do it by the first of next year!

Look, I would have loved a single battery platform long ago when cordless tools were becoming popular. But it's too late now. You have millions of tools out there that would be rendered useless if such a policy was to be implemented.

So tell us MAGA, do you love how big government wants to control the private sector? And that they have decided who will be the obvious winner?

Article dates April 1.

This information comes from a single source, and no official government announcement from DOGE, DOE, or EPA is directly cited in the article to independently confirm the mandate. Given the significant implications of such a policy, it would be prudent to verify this with additional primary sources, such as official statements from the involved agencies, to ensure its accuracy and current status. Just as indoctrinated by media liberals here claim "There is no proof" I am using that liberal tactic here.

Looks like a software update is needed – the algorithm is not parsing previous replies to the thread.

Remember AA, AAA and C cells? Can be done, but selling battery packs is a money maker.

I believe this has been in the works for some time. They are attempting to minimize the number of lithium batteries in the landfills. I think the EU has already implemented this standard.

Same thing with the new USB-C power connectors for rechargeable devices. Manufacturers don't like this. They prefer proprietary plugs to keep the customers locked into their product lines. Sony was notorious for this back when stereo rack systems were all the rage. They made it impossible to switch out a component like a CD player from a competitor by making all their connectors proprietary. Almost all other makers went with the standard RCA jack. If you wanted a new CD player or tuner, you had to go with whatever Sony offered. It too, put a lot of plastics and wiring in the landfills.

Do you realize it took an act of Congress to standardize screw sizes following WWI? It was considered a matter of national security.

Is this where I'm supposed to snark on the pathetic gullibility of DP leftists?

Chalked up to 'It'd be nice', but rather unlikely to happen.
Pretty good April Fool's joke.
