Oh - don't be so dramatic. Are you going to offer to adopt countless unwanted babies or something?
Or are you going to lash out at those who don't wnat kids, demand they have them, only to hold a strong 'but i don't want kids, either' stance?
Can't be judging others unless you're heart and home is open to the precious cells.
I purposefully miscarried a few developing cells when I was 18 - and I don't consider that murder or wrong in any way, shape or form.
Should I bid a fond teary farewell everytime I bleed?
Hardly not - developing cells are not a 'baby' - and I won't get my panties in a twist over them in the least.
LOL - our own government commits murder in a variety of ways. . . so can I.
As long as there are pregnancies there will be abortions - either done in a controled environment or done at home or in a hotel. . . crude or otherwise. You can end a pregnancy in a variety of ways, really.
Life begins at conception, but personhood doesn't begin until sentience greater than that of the average cat is attained.
I think women who wish to use abortion as convenient birth control should have to resort to a coat hanger.
Rivrrat. You can't expect certain people with such strong opinions to actually understand what they're against - obviously they haven't researched what all these different things are.
Yeah, that's what I said. :roll:WTF? So you think women shouldn't use birth control? Birth control can and does cause abortions. The BC pill and IUDs can and do cause fertilized eggs to be expelled from the body. They are one and the same. The only difference is the location in the body. Most BC pills, IUDs and abortions sometimes do the exact same thing. So I'm quite confused by people who want to prevent women from using birth control. It makes absolutely no ****ing sense to me.
Yeah, that's what I said.
For those who voted 'NO', I'd like to know when you think a person's life biologically begins?Does a new person's life "biologically" begin at conception?
For those who voted 'NO', I'd like to know when you think a person's life biologically begins?
24 to 36 hours after conception, when cell division starts to occur
Oh good -then the morning after shouldn't be an issue for you.

We have a thread on this question already, it has 1258 replies so far. But the answer depends on your definition. Life itself biologically began a long time ago. New DNA begins at the first mitosis after fertilization. Individuality, the inability to make a twin, begins at gastrulation. Brain activity seems to begin after 7-9 weeks gestation, but sentience and consciousness might take until 36 weeks or more. Legal protection begins at viability. Citizenship and separation begin at birth.
What?
What definition of the word "begin" are you using?
The normal one, to start or originate. I don't like to play dictionary games the way you do. Which part do you disagree with?
The beginning.
Basically,... I have a problem with about the beginning to the end of what you said.
Did you not understand or do you want references?
I understand what you are claiming,... completely.
That's how (and why) I know I disagree with it.
1) You disagree that an embryo doesn't have brain activity until 7 weeks gestation? 2) Or that gastrulation stops the possibility of twinning? 3) Or that the new DNA is created by the first mitosis?

(1) In truth, you don't disagree with anything I said. You just disagree with the reasons that I said it, and you aren't willing to admit it. What you don't understand is that I'm not using science just to back up my intention to kill fetuses. (2) I came upon an abortion thread knowing very little about the process. I went to wikipedia and some other sites and did some research, and that is how I came upon these facts. I have no agenda.
I completely accept the biological facts,...
What I disagree with is your conclusions about those facts.
To American's question;
You responded,..
By your loose definition of "individuality" a young girl looses her own individuality,... when she starts getting her period and gains the ability to produce a child.
You are (1) incorrect in your assumptions as I explained already (above.)
and,...
(2) Wikipedia? Really? Don't get me wrong, I'm gratefull that you are educating yourself. I have used Wikipedia as a reference myself. But, please.... if you really care about an issue,...use multiple sources.
And, if you really want to learn the facts,....lose the bias.
