The Congregationalists only light candles on Christmas Eve.or do you know candles in other religions as well?
I guess the Congregationalists only met during daylight hours. It's not just for worship! Practically, it's been used everywhere.
Could it have something to do with the fact that candles were their lighting system before they had electricity for light bulbs and flourescent lights?
Then, someone got more creative with them!

I WENT to a Congregational church, and whatever your article said, we only lit candles at Christmas Eve service. They were little white ones with paper drip collars that we held and lit from the main altar candles, and we sang Silent Night as we walked out with our candles.Candles have been used in Christian religious ceremonies for centuries, and they hold a special significance in the faith.
Their use dates back to the early days of Christianity, when believers were forced to hold their worship services in secret to avoid persecution.
During these clandestine gatherings, candles were used to light the way and symbolize the presence of God in the midst of their struggles.
Over time, candles became an important part of public Christian worship services and were used to symbolize various aspects of the faith.
The origins of the Christian candle symbolism are rooted in ancient Jewish traditions, where the use of candles had spiritual significance.
Early Christians adopted this tradition and infused it with their own symbolism and meaning.
