Voters in 5 states will be voting for legalization of marijuana. Do you favor legalization?

Not only do I support it, I hope those other states legalize it so jerks quit moving into CO.

I support legalizing it, no rational reason to keep it illegal for those over the age of 21 that use it responsibly.

AZ is one of those 5 states and before this election I opposed legalizing pot every time it came up. This time I'll vote for it because I'm pretty sure that I'll need it for at least the next 4 years no matter who wins the general.

seems this was not your position back in the day. maybe i am wrong
but of your position has evolved, what caused it to change?

You're correct. I used to be against legalization.

Going through pharmacy school and knowing the pharmacology behind THC use and comparing that with alcohol provides me with no rational reason to keep it illegal. Marijuana, as a drug, is hardly harmful and can be used responsibly (no driving high, not getting high in public, etc.). I think we waste too much time and money in the criminal justice system dealing with marijuana convictions as well.

Legalize it and make it retroactive. Putting people in prison for marijuana is no different in my mind from throwing somebody in prison for having sex in the wrong position.

Exactly. Let's empty the prisons of potheads and make room for the violent offenders. How many prisoners are released early due to overcrowding?

Yes, legalize it, and work on sensible decriminalization of the other current illicit drugs.

End summary property forfeiture, axe the DEA & offer the agents jobs building-up the country's infrastructure, and tell the local coppers that rather than waging a *war* against the people - they need to concentrate on solving and preventing *crimes* against the people!

When we're done with the last of these Reagan & Nixonian Constitution shredding artifacts of oppression, we can get to work on unwinding the decades of trickle-down Reaganomics.

Well, that would be my start on my ideal America.

Add single payer healthcare, and I'd be calling this place Utopia - just like my grandparents did when escaping war torn Europe.

There is no rational basis for ever having made it illegal in the first place.

If you have a moment, check out an organization I've been a member of for years:

LEAP | Law Enforcement Against Prohibition

The rationalization was that it made "darkies" think they were equal to white people. Really! Anti pot laws were a reflection of 1920's racism.

thank you for sharing that perspective. coming from a well trained pharmacist, that is a compelling opinion

I support legalization, but oppose prop 64. I realize that you're never going to get the MMJ guys to agree on anything, but this is really a poor attempt at compromise. Just as bad as Prop 19 years ago. Also, I oppose Question 2 in NV because I want to work on it again.

What's up with that? Everyone east of the Rocky's seems to be under the impression that CO is the only state with legal pot.

Well Colorado is the greatest state in the Republic, and it has MJ. So people want to move here. But it's too true, tell some of these guys to move to Oregon. Haven't they ever seen Portlandia? Or if they really like coffee and ****ty weather, they can move to Washington.

I am not a user yet decriminalizing is better. Ridiculous to have someone in jail for such.

while i support people being able to grow pot to smoke, i don't understand how people condemn tobacco smoking and advocate marijuana smoking.

My answer to that is nobody else's business except the person who chooses to smoke, unless he is endangering others by driving while high.
