Well, in the current realm of 2025 asylum claiming in the US - it surely does seem to have a racial component.

Brown and black asylum seekers are being deported and/or turned away at our borders.

White ones are being solicited and flown in at tax payers expense and greeted with a party.

I have no doubt that there are valid asylum claims coming from South Africa.

I also have no doubt that our current policies and political climate - including what refugees we are/are not accepting - is racially motivated.

The two things are not mutually exclusive.
