I enjoy visiting there. My maternal grandparents were both born in Hungary. I just like exploring and imagining what it was like for them in their youth. Of course, it has changed enormously since they emigrated to America in 1915.
 
I’ve had one for years. About to use it again for travel in a couple of weeks. Last November, I posted the following to someone who wondered why I didn’t use my state driver’s license as identification to vote, and use my passport instead:

Agreed for Hawaii. Wife and I honeymooned there and have been there two more times since. The part where I got COVID kinda sucked, though...

Maui once, big island twice. The best part for all three was the trip to the summit of the highest mountain on the island. Mauna Kea and Haleakala both are magnificent. Booking a stargazing tour is my go-to recommendation for anyone venturing forth to the Hawaiian islands.
 
Born and raised in America. Never had the opportunity to travel abroad. At this point in my life, I would get one because I now live close to Canada, a country I've always wanted to visit. I just don't know how Canadians will feel about American visitors after what trumpdump has done...
 
We need some kind of defensive gear to travel abroad. A pin, or a scarf, or something that says we didn't vote for that fool. No hats.

I've never had a passport. The last time I visited another country, it was Canada, before passports were required.
It's been awhile.
 
Yes I have a valid passport. Also have the real ID.

Yes, I have a passport. I usually leave the country for business or pleasure once a year or so. Mostly Mexico or Europe.

I've been debating whether to renew my kids' passports when they expire next year. It's nice that they have one but if I can hold off a couple years I'll only have to do one more renewal each before they're 18 and can get the ten-year version.
 
I have an American passport, a Swiss passport and an Italian passport. I was born in the US to a Swiss father, and he made sure I became a Swiss citizen. I married an Italian and that got me Italian citizenship.
 
I think mine has lapsed. Due to age and the conduct of international travelers, we got all our travel out of the way before Covid.
 
Yes and I'm happy to say my first out of country visit was to Canada. Y'all remember Canada our foe to the north of our border.

That's quite a collection. If I could only visit one on my next overseas trip, would you suggest Switzerland or Italy?
 
You won't have any problem Canadians know it isn't the American people who are doing this but.....don't wear a red baseball hat.

Our home base is in Switzerland, but do spend a lot of time in Italy, especially since my daughter is doing her Ph.D. in Milan. Switzerland is the best place in the world to live, Italy is one of the best places to have a vacation. Switzerland is very expensive for tourists and is rather small, so it is better for a short vacation, like a week at most. Italy is more affordable and there are things that just have to be seen, like Rome and Venice. Sardegna's beaches. The Dolomites. It would take a few weeks to see the best of Italy. Plus the food is better in Italy.

I found that to be true of Iceland as well. The other countries we visited were surprisingly not as expensive as we'd feared, but Iceland lived up to expectations. $15 USD for a beer in some places!

I held a passport and later a passport card for about 50 years but now after vising over 80 countries I am retired and have no need for a passport. I have seen enough.
