Do you consider MTG to be an actress?

I am asking this as a genuine question. Last weekend, MTG made a speech where she accused FDR, LBJ, and Biden of being "socialists" and using the federal government to address medical care, urban problems, education, transportation, and food security. I find this to be incredibly ignorant. Lets review:

1. Her facts are wrong. Biden was never the Senate majority leader. Neither LBJ or Biden are socialists. You could make the case for FDR, but that's a different story.
2. The programs she attacked are widely popular among both sides of the aisle. In fact, MTG's district is one of the poorest and most uneducated districts in Georgia, and they rely heavily on the federal government for assistance.
3. Her speech neglects to point out that Lincoln, TR, Ike, Nixon, H.W, and Bush all supported expanding the role of the federal government to address social and economic programs.
4. She neglects to point out that the debt and deficit went to new historic heights under Republican Presidents, like Ronald Reagan (Cold War), George W. Bush (Two wars), and Trump (Covid).

My question here is, do you think people like MTG or Lauren Boebert, really believe this nonsense or are they just playing to the crowd?

MTG was a blogger and Boebert a bar owner. That should about be enough context to answer the question.

So the question is: are folks like MTG and Boebert really that ignorant, or are they just playing to an ignorant base?

I think it’s probably both. They egg each other on- a chicken and egg type question.

Now someone like Trump- I don’t think is THAT stupid. He is clearly just pandering to the ignorant base, just to advance personal power. He says a lot of things that he clearly must know are not true: like how you’re not gonna believe what his top people are finding on Obama’s secret birth certificate, or how he has a secret healthcare plan that’s better than Obamacare and will cover everyone and be cheaper, or how he knows the 2020 election was stolen from him, etc…

Hi, BrotherFease.

A serious question deserves a serious answer.

From my vantage point outside both the red and blue camps [secular humanism], I see her as a stand-up comic with a not inconsequential talent.

Regards, stay safe 'n well.

Sorry, Brother Fease, but I do not see her as an actress. She is, in my estimation, a dull-witted, hateful ingrate who has managed to be elected to congress from a district that is both extra poor an extra under-educated.

There is nothing about her that I find laudable or admirable.

I think those same kinds of things about Boebert, except that Boebert looks like a great piece of ass. Sorry about showing my crassness, but I wanted to respond truthfully.

I think they are mostly performance artists. They are trying to get appearances on right-wing shows and receive financial kickbacks.

She'd be great as Miss Piggy in a $hit-puppet show.

Hi again, BrotherFease.

I've noted that those in political circles who've been forced to leave in disgrace because of, for example, improper advances toward women, too many over-the-top conspiratorial statements, posting explicitly sexual photos or being convicted of crimes have found a safe haven in 'conservative' AM radio talk shows.

Regards, stay safe 'n well.

She would.

She and Boebert are repulsive. Too bad. They lucked out and got a chance to be great...to further the move of women into positions of leadership. Instead they are choosing to be low-class scum.

Oh, well. Maybe a stint as Miss Piggy is in the future for MTG. Andrew Lloyd Webber can come up with some very clever shows...and he knows how to cast them.

Who knows what she believes? There’s always a public facade projected by any and all politicians. A façade each thinks will attract support and voters. Personally, I don’t think her elevator goes all the way to the top.

'Both sides' [there's actually just one $ide ] have ignorant bases.

'Both sides' [there's actually just one $ide ] have ignorant bases.
Probably true. But it is not at all a symmetric situation today.

She's a clown, not an actress. I find it funny that so many people take her seriously.

I am 100% sure they're playing to the crowd. At the same time, there is a high level of government ignorance and basic history ignorance there too.

She may not be an actress, but she is certainly a performer, just like the leader of her party.

It isn't about fact or fiction for them, it's about the spectacle.

That's what their House hearings on Biden are all about. Do not expect criminal charges or legislative reform to come out of these hearings. It's all about the show.

It's what authoritarians do.

MTG, and many others like her, don't care if what they're saying is true or not. They lack the will to learn or the intelligence to do the research.

They know their voters don't care if they say one thing today and the opposite tomorrow.

Witness the politicians who spoke and voted against the infrastructure bill taking credit for the infrastructure bill.

Witness Mitch McConnell saying a president can't nominate a Supreme Court justice in the last year of his term. Then confirming a SCOTUS justice in the last two weeks of a president's term.

It doesn't matter how hypocritical or crazy you are as long as you pwn the libs.

Or admitting that Trump is "practically and morally responsible" for 1/6, and then proceeding to delay the impeachment hearings for nearly a month so that he and all his Republican rubes could claim "private citizen" as an acceptable reason to acquit.

She's a clown, not an actress. I find it funny that so many people take her seriously.
She is in a position of great power. She makes decisions that impact all of us. It’s like being in a taxi with a drunk driver. You would not take that seriously?

My side question. Are there any Democrats who are just as loony as Boebert, Greene, and Tuberville?

I think MTG honestly believes what she says. I just think she is a too-common brand of dumb, ignorant, arrogant, and impulsive.

She seems to lack intelligence.

Since I am in agreement with her, that means she is truthful.

AOC, on the other hand, IS an actress.
