Stalin would have LOVED to have dreamed up a scheme like global warming.
Wow...
Are you sure you are a progressive?
What you said is actually insightful. Most progressives are highly indoctrinated to AGW being far worse than what we have seen trends for.
In other words, we should bury our heads in the sand while proclaiming that we just have to think about the jerbs!
As I made eminently clear- we know what's happening, we know what's causing it, and we know the consequences. Only some people pretend that it's a debate.
Evolution is real. So it global warming. I am sorry but sometimes the science and reality do not line up with your political ideology. One of them has to go.
This is from NASA. And no you can't "present the other side" to make it fair and balanced with news articles from Fox or Breitbart or something. Ignore reality at your own peril.

Global warming has happened.
We grow vines as far North as York today. That has not been possible since the Roman period, even the early to mid Roman British period to be more exact.
It is never going to be any significant trouble though.
Which box do I tick?
Believe as you wish.
At least I can explain the science. You cant.
I for one do not believe in global warming as global warming is not a religion.
Based on my observation over the past 18 years, we have seen no significant warming. I want to look at objective numbers, not subjective opinions from politicians.
This is an extremely controversial subject, the science is very much in debate. I remember An Inconvenient Truth in 2006. Many of the predictions have been debunked. Scientists praised the movie when it came out..... they were also wrong.
What are your thoughts? Do you believe the polar bears are going to extinct?
Mass chaos???
Cats and dogs sleeping with each other?
I believe that it is very likely that we humans are causing the Earth to heat up. I think we should put our best brains on the problem, and do nothing for now except start making plans for sea level rise and stuff of that nature. We should also going to have to decide if things start breaking down are we going to let people roam the planet like swarms of locust devastating every place they land? I am thinking maybe that is not such a hot idea.
We need to start talking about stuff like this.
No, I don't. I accept it as a scientific fact.
Not true, as this history lays out.
Medieval warmth and English wine « RealClimate
But then again, truthiness is a denier trait.
Yes, there's no need to keep repeating your nonsense claims, yet you do. Over and over again.See my last post. No need to repeat myself.
Let me preface my comments;
I am an independent free-thinker, not a left winger or right winger.
And I am a man of science.
My very profession relies upon good, hard science.
Every single working day.
I drive a fuel-efficient Subaru, and I walk and/or bicycle when I can, to avoid excess pollution in the air.
I mow most of my lawn with a non-gasoline-powered Fiskars reel mower, to avoid dumping excess exhaust gasses into the air.
I am a good steward of the land. (I own some acreage here, on a spring-fed creek.)
I don't use gasoline powered tools when I trim the walking trails here, because I don't want to frighten the wildlife here.
I respect their peace and their environment.
Why do I take such environmental care, you might ask?
BECAUSE IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
And as many of you have heard me say, more than a few times probably, man should pollute less.
Man should dump less exhaust gasses into the air.
Man should take care not to dump trash, oil, and industrial waste into the waters.
Man should do all these things, BECAUSE IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
NOT because he is forced to by an over-reaching government, and not because of a few trumped-up, hysterical, nonsensical reports (founded in junk science) generated by politicians who only want to use them to levy higher taxes on the citizenry.
This President and his left-leaning cronies have got it in their heads that by taxing and choking the living **** out of each and every corporation and tax-payer, they will somehow make billions of years of wax & wane of the climate all of a sudden reverse course.
They are WRONG. Their suppositions are politically-motivated, and founded in useless junk science.
Here is the reality, and this according to one of your own global climate change experts;
If man stopped driving automobiles completely, and all airliners were grounded permanently, and the President stopped jetting off on vacations hither and yon non-stop, it wouldn't change the global climate and associated temperature even one third of one tenth of a degree over the next 100 years.
With that in mind, does it make any sense for these hysterical crooks in Washington to shove reams of regulations down our throats, knowing that it won’t help the climate one iota??
Just food for thought.
:doh
Then you obviously haven't read them.
Remember the paper I disassembled and quoted from the "methods" where the papers they selected from the climate scientists who say that, were selected from scientists already writing for the IPCC et. al. They didn't select from all climate scientists... They cherry picked from the start!
Of course you don't. You deny anything that doesn't fit in your dogma of AGW beliefs.
Please link and quote from a paper that says that. I will show you how you are dead wrong.
Remember maybe two years ago, I dissembles all the papers mentioned in the NASA consensus statement?
Of course you don't. Again, you deny any relevance, because it doesn't fit in your dogma of AGW.
I read and understand the papers. You let the pundits lie to you about what the papers mean.
The answers written in this thread reveal why it is important to leave decision making to the experts. If human societies had developed over the past 10,000 years with the likes of common man on demonstration in this thread determining their future I can nearly guarantee we would still be living in caves.
The total lack of respect for science which has developed in this country is alarming. The troglodytes are taking over the reins and we are being pulled down the rat hole with them. That a modern, supposedly educated nation can hold onto archaic notions which predate the scientific revolution, deny biological evolution and fall prey to a misinformation campaign designed to confuse the public on the reality of human cause climate change is disheartening to this scientifically minded person. Our descendents will need lots of luck, because by staling mitigation of climate change that's all we are leaving them. Our selfish society is using up the world's resources like there is no tomorrow, polluting the land, air and oceans, driving species to extinction at 100 times the natural background rate and yes, warming the planet to levels not experienced for several millions of years. You deny to your peril.
You betcha! The most recent Russian plot to ruin the USA gave us President Trump.
The NAS says:
Scientists know that recent climate change is largely caused by human activities from an
understanding of basic physics, comparing observations with models, and fingerprinting
the detailed patterns of climate change caused by different human and natural influences.
http://dels.nas.edu/resources/static-assets/exec-office-other/climate-change-full.pdf
Yes.
Climate change is "largely" cause by us. have I ever denied that?
You continue to use your confirmation bias, and see things in my words I never said.
It is you who takes things out of context.
How many times do I remind you all that "words have meaning." Does largely mean most? It can, but that isn't the word they chose to use.
No proof then, only political hackery.
No proof, just personal attacks? Kirsten Powers has Liberals pegged. You people don't ever get embarressed?
Projection, the sad first resort of the factually-embarrassed Trumpkin.
From the same report:
"Are climate changes of a few degrees a cause for concern?
Yes. Even though an increase of a few degrees in global average temperature does not sound like much, global average temperature during the last ice age was only about 4 to 5 °C (7 to 9 °F) colder than now. Global warming of just a few degrees will be associated with widespread changes in regional and local temperature and precipitation as well as with increases in some types of extreme weather events. These and other changes (such as sea level rise and storm surge) will have serious impacts on human societies and the natural world."
I guess you're going to whine that 'serious' doesn't really mean anything.
Because you know eords have meaning- and you'll choose whatever meaning is convenient to dismiss stuff you don't want to hear.
No, I don't. I accept it as a scientific fact.
Says the guy who launched two personal attacks in a row. :lamo
What 'useless junk science' are you referring to? Specifically.
