As earth is currently our only precedent for how evolution happens, I agree that E.T. ain't gonna be the first one we meet out there.
The human lifespan so far is only a fraction of a blink of an eye in terms of lifespan of the universe...
This accounts for why we haven't seen life out there yet and possibly won't for a hundred thousand years
There's that, and also the fact that it's a big damn universe. Another species could have easily had the drop on us by over a billion years, turned conquest and savagery into the purest artform and they'd be nowhere close to finding us.
I say we first try to decide the best means by which we can survive us.
Possibly one of the only two ways humans can survive themselves, is to have a clear and imminent threat from beings elsewhere in the universe. Possibly the only thing that would make humans around the world forget about their differences and bind together as one entity.
The other way for humans to survive themselves is to have an actual God present himself to quell all doubts and suppress any religious disputes.
Do you know what Pantheism is?That's fine. He believed in an intelligent creator.
Really? You had a few quotes, some of which did not even relate to an intelligent designer. My point was I said Einstein believed in intelligent design and he did.
Heh, in typical nerd fashion, that actually reminded me of a Star Trek: The Next Generation episode in which an alien with superior technology went to a backwards planet and became their god after reading up on their various holy manuscripts and prophecies. Hilarity ensued.
We can make an educated assumption with our current technology, but no one knows for sure how old the earth is. I'm right.
No one believes in evolution so why is it an issue on this thread?
Just the fact that any planets lifeform requires an ecosystem of consumption and survival is actually quite disturbing.
Here on earth virtually every species of life attacks and kills other species of life because it has to to survive. Based on this I believe that chances are that if we meet other lifeforms from other planets they wont be friendly.
Kinda like the vulcans?? Trans-humanism would say that in the future people will be bound together with chips in the brain that relay all throughts through a central computer... sounds almost 'borg' to menally believe that evolution may eventually do away with emotions because all we need are logical decision making to proliferate as a species and emotions will only hinder this.
why I believe that if life out there finds us it will almost certainly only look at us and earth as a resource for their proliferation and have no emotion as to where we fit in.

Its entirely possible that ID happened in way that supports the theory of evolution. So you do not believe in evolution?
No. People say the bible says the earth is ony 9000 years old.The bible says the Earth is only 9000 years old
You believe it is a fact.As far as the OP I can not answer it properly as to me evolution is not a belief or theory. It is a fact.
I think this goes to his point that no one knows "fer shure".No, it really has. 4.55 billion years plus or minus 1%.
The cool thing about the universe being infinite...Yes this may be a valid point for some of the planets out there, but because of the numbers of planets with the possibility of life likely in the billions and the possibility of intelligent life likely in the millions...many too would have evolved...some less as fast as earth and some much faster...the scenarios are almost infinite
There are also other life-forms that form simbiotic relationships.
I do agree that any other intelligent life would evolve as a predator... think about it, the predator has to track, chase, and maneuover to catch his prey, whereas the prey merely has to run far enough from the predator to survive. Having versatile thumbs would be important as to have the dexterirty to fashion tools. It is also more likely that the creature be a social creature and communicate easily.

Sorry for the star trek analogy, but other than the comical use of forehead plastics to create new alien species, and everyone speaking english, all the aliens from Star Trek really are just different elements of the human psyche thrown into an interplanetary society.
As an alien species trying to take over a plaeet.. I doubt that open war-fare style conquest would be worth it in an instance where the populations are beyond a certain technological point.... on the other hand, if they were to encounter a primitive civilisation with the high tech to travel to the planet would be fairly simple to show them that you are a God and should be worshipped as such...
I'm not going to vouch for the validity, but I did see an article talking about how there was observed 'explosions' in space at roughly 180000light years away that was NOT a super-nova... the implication was that it was witnessed evidence of a war in space... Like I said, I don't know if this is legit, but I wouldn't place it in the realm of the impossible.
Also, if the speed of light is a true barrier (which in all probablility is just a limit on current technology) then there is the issue of how long it takes to actually travel between planets in space... I mean again with Star Trek, Warp 1 is Light speed, Warp 2 is like 3x light speed, warp 3 is like 9x light speed, and so on... and still it is implied days and weeks travel between planets.
That's simple in principle, figure out the people that present the biggest risk to our common survival, root out their evil and be ever-vigilant to prevent this evil from rising again.
Now, I have heard of a 'project bluebeam' where through technology are aiming to create a holographic threat against humanity as a means to gain total control over humanity... again, I'm not going to vouch for the validity of this.
How would we recognize 'God'?? Since the Bible's prohibition of 'graven images of God' we have no reference for what a 'God' might look like.

No, it really has. 4.55 billion years plus or minus 1%. If new evidence comes forward it will be evaluated. But for now, that is how old the Earth most likely is.
We can make an educated assumption with our current technology, but no one knows for sure how old the earth is. I'm right.
Thats simply ridiculous. No one knows, and no one will probably ever know.. There are just to many unknown factors for a race that has been relatively intelligent for thousands of years, and somewhat intelligent for a few hundred years to predict how old the earth is, specially when those predictions amount to 910.000 times more than 5000 years, which is approximately when our intelligent civilizations started. If you divide 4.55 billion by 300 which is the time we have been intelligent compared to the 4700 years... Yeah you get it, its ridiculous to assume the age of the earth, just like its ridiculous to assume to creation of the universe from something you see in a telescope.
Too many unknown factors, too little knowledge, too simple intelligence.

First off, why do you think this? As the "Da Vinci" of this age, I assume you know what carbon dating, hell you probably invented it. That is how the age is determined. Simply because we haven't been around that long (a lot less time than your 4.55 by 300 (and where the hell did you get that number? It comes out to 1,516,666. People have only been around for about 500,000 years)).Thats simply ridiculous. No one knows, and no one will probably ever know.. Are you claiming that our intelligent civilizations started 4.55 billion years ago? Because that's just insane, even for you.Max said:when those predictions amount to 910.000 times more than 5000 years, which is approximately when our intelligent civilizations started
