I don't approve of partial birth abortion bans, but that isn't what the Supreme Court approved. They approved of the RIGHT for states to determine their own policies regarding the issue, and I absolutely support that.

Havent read the decision.

It bans the procedure of butcher abortion doctors using the method of pulling a babys head out of the vagina and crushing it to death unless the mothers life is endangered.....That would be the only exception....

No it doesn't. English must not be your first language.

Once again: It gives STATES the right to decide for THEMSELVES how to handle the issue.

Of course its a state issue but no state will defy the SCOTUS and perform that horrific procedure and you know it........As much as you hate it Roe V Wade should be thrown out as bad law and the abortion issue should go back to the state......This is the first step to do that...

This is a great victory for the people that are pro life no matter how much you poo poo it......

It isn't "defying" the SCOTUS to do it, because the Supreme Court DIDN'T BAN IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. Jesus.

Umm I supported this decision, dingleberry. As you might've figured out if you had read any of my posts on the subject.

Alright, calm down. Hot topic I know, but that's no excuse for not being civil.

Yeah and next your going to tell us you support the overturn of Roe V Wade my left wing friend........The problem is your many posts betray you......

Honestly, Navy Pride would you rather have women wanting an abortion to do it illegally and having the risk of dying in an unprofessional method, or have it legal with a professional method where mothers are safe.

The pro-life policy in my opinion is sort of lacking in logic. Yes thousands of babies are murdered every day from no abortion methods(more than abortion methods). Women all over the world take morning after pills and the like. Arent you killing a baby there??? Or getting a vasectemy or similar operations. Arent you killing off possible babies there? There is also a thing called a condom that prevents pregnacy, Arent you killing off possible babies there also? Even if you and your wife don't have sex when you are physically able, Isnt that killing possible babies there too?? All of these things are killing babies I guess what you are talking about is how bad it looks. I don't know vomit looks pretty disgusting maybe we should arrest the person that spewed it.

Well there's a big difference between killing off possible humans and killing off actual humans wouldn't you say?

Of course. This was a great decision by SCOTUS and a win for all Americans. The state, not the federal, should be who determines if this form of government is lawful or not.

Personally I don't think abortions should be performed after 20 weeks. It doesn't take 9 months to decide if you want a child or not.

I *do* support the overturn of Roe v Wade. Do you ever read what people write before you run your mouth?

It is important to know that this ruling really does not change anything. Roe v. Wade gave states the right to regulate abortion after a certain point in the pregnancy. Partial-birth abortions are late-term. The right to have an early-term abortion is still legal. The Court basically upheld Rove v. Wade with this ruling.

Yes in la la land today was a prochoice victory. :spin: :2wave:

It is illegal to pull the baby from the womb and crush its head regardless of the trimester....That is what this ruling is about.......

Please explain to me how this ruling is different than Roe v. Wade. Good luck.

This one wasn't a crap decision like Roe. In fact didn't one of the judges allude to the fact that Roe was crap in their statement? :rofl Not with that exact wording of course but the sentiment was there.

.....Isnt that also the case with abortion. There is a thing called having a miscarrage. So if you are having an abortion you are killng a possible baby.

No. If a human is alive and then dies then a human died. If you died tomorrow you weren't a possible human. You were a living human that then died. If you could possibly father 100's of children but don't then you have eliminated "possible" humans and not in fact killed any. However when there is a living human in the womb that is then killed there was no "possible" involved and to suggest such is intellectually dishonest.

The abortion slop buckets are not filled with "possibles" so much as tangibles.

The concurring opinion requested that Roe v. Wade be overturned, but that was only supported by Thomas and Scalia. Kennedy, Roberts, and Alito did not join in that opinion. As a matter of fact, the last challenge to R v. W, Kennedy voted to uphold it.

Alex is completely correct.

This ruling, and yes I have read it, false completely within the bounds of RvW. It does nothing to prohibit early abortion. The upheld state act only prohibits abortion procedures which intend to remove the fetus intact and then kill it, as opposed to disarticulating it before removal.

There are other details also, but apparently most people on this thread care more for the vague and ambiguous abortion arguments and not for the text of the actual ruling itself.

Therefore, as an Evil Conservative ;) , I fully support SCOTUS’s decision here as their ruling contains many provisions which enslave women, minorities, non-Christians and gays (redundant, I know), and specifically grant men unknown to a given woman complete and total power to make decisions for her (see slavery provisions). Further more, this ruling explicitly gives animals, hypothetical aliens and known TV sci-fi aliens constitutional rights as “persons”, and encourages overpopulation, global worming, the war on terror, the Bush administration, and calls AlGore a “foo-foo-head”.

It's an unacceptable attack on Roe V. Wade and it is very unfortunate.

Many states have had laws against late-term abortions for years. This is hardly anything new.
