I think in some ways it's worse than football hooligans - hooligans might punch the crap out of each other but then that's it. Hooligans only affect the football image of the nation they are in whereas politicians and supporters who take such ultra positions against each other seem intent on affecting and indoctrinating everyone with their beliefs.
"Culture wars" are very much a thing of the alt-right in the USA but it has developed an almost equal and bitter contrast in the anti alt-right and we see elements being brought into UK politics.
One thing that makes me wonder though is that our politicians that get into Parliament often end up on committees together made up of mixed views (Labour / Conservative / Liberal Democrat etc) and
they scrutinise and develop the Acts of Parliament that the government push through. Does the same happen in other European Governments?
How does the German Parliament work once a law has gone through its first vote? For that matter - what happens in the US now that Congress seems to have abdicated its responsibility and power after handing the President the power to govern mainly by Executive Order?
Executive Orders have always been part of American government but someone once said to me "Congress proposes, the President Disposes" meaning that the President signs off laws and acts that often began in Congress but Trump had signed (by July) 147 EOs and only 5 Acts.
Some of his EOs rescinded the EOs of the Biden Administration and you can almost predict the next Democrat President overturning as many of the Trump EOs as he/she can.
Madness!
I forgive you cos I'm a nice guy.
