The Pico case is what makes his book nonsense unconstitutional.Which I've already mentioned the Pico case. You haven't explained how the other court cases are relivent in removing books.
The Pico case is what makes his book nonsense unconstitutional.
I already provided it to you. They were removed in 2022...we are nearly into June 2023.
What do you mean to see what sticks?Yet a blevy of other court cases were added to see what sticks.
Not all the parents. Just one or two out of 100s is all it takes. I am not defecting, you are. Either you agree with this practice in all things or just in things you beleive in. This kind of practice opens a can of worms for everything any one person does not like.I did read the OP and declined to comment. I also read the thread title and that's what I've commented on.
Actually, the parents of the school children who go to the school library ARE the ones who should be deciding what books are in that library. If you disagree with those parents, the YOU should be arguing with them instead of crying and whining about it.
And here you go...deflecting.
Bye.
Evidently this person doesn't understand that Supreme Court decisions are decisions and not cases that are yet to be heard. What do you mean to see what sticks?
Stop playing the game you are playing. You already looked at it and whined about the link. Can you point out the post # for that please?

You most certainly did...and your complaint was it was a blue area...but it isn't. Jacksonville only started voting barely blue recently.I don't recall responding to any link you posted. Was it the one that's been circulating for awhile now from PEN?
Here is a list
These 176 Books Were Banned in Duval County, Florida - PEN America
PEN America and We Need Diverse Books are calling attention to 176 banned books that Duval, County, Florida removed from classroom libraries in January 2022 for “review,” and kept in storage.pen.org
So you posted 3 links that do not support your original comment that it was about what was being taught in classrooms, that the complaints were from parents who had students being taught things in classrooms by radical teachers.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...embers-squabble-parents-ejection-meeting.html

If you need more, that was the first 3 hits from a search engine that found thousands of hits.
Learn what pornography is. Check out the Miller Test.Still trying to peddle pornography to children I see. I should have expected as much from you. Why are so many leftist filth pedophiles? Disney is full of them.
They gave reason based on actual academic rationale to reject them though, right? Or at least something not based on personal prejudice or bias?Oh, stop. Curriculua is rejected all of the time. It's not a new thing. Just a few years ago we had 3 different reading programs we were piloting and weighed the pros and cons and chose one of them to use. That means we rejected two of them. It's how it works.
For context, since it appears that you don't even remember what you are trying to defend, here's your previous post that I was asking you to support.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...embers-squabble-parents-ejection-meeting.html

Note that you specifically said this wasn't about "picking up a book from a shelf", but about "arrogant activists instructing children", yet you post links that have nothing to do with specific "arrogant activist" teachers or instructions of any kind, but generally random people who mostly don't even have children in those schools, complaining about parent/teacher meeting recording policies or books on shelves. What started this was teachers ignoring parental concerns and insisting on teaching materials that in the opinion of parents are age inappropriate. This has less to do with picking up a book from a shelf and more to do with arrogant activists instructing children and thinking they have more authority than the parents. You are misrepresenting the situtation
If it was bought for the school, they were asking for that book to begin with, then they should have a really damn good reason (academically) to remove it.The school board, however, can and does control what materials are in their schools. If they don't want Credence by Penelope Douglas in their schools for minors to check out, then Credence should be removed no matter what parent wants it to stay.
Parents let the school know what books their children cannot checkout, read from the school library. It really isn't that difficult and is available now. Many schools even have lists of their books available online and could easily be given the ability to check a box for a book that their child is not allowed to have. How would that work?
It supports that the schools were ignoring the parents and using force to silence them.So you posted 3 links that do not support your original comment that it was about what was being taught in classrooms, that the complaints were from parents who had students being taught things in classrooms by radical teachers.
The first link was about a person at a meeting complaining about not being able to record parent-teacher meetings. And the board members at that meeting getting into a spat when the complainer was asked if she had students in the district, which given the context of what she was complaining about, was very relevant as to whether it was even something that truly affected anyone in that district.
The second 2 links were about books available in the library that some people felt were inappropriate for students.
None of these supported the idea that students were being taught in the classroom things that were inappropriate or extreme, as was your initial contention.
No, it doesn't. Because at least 2 of them (likely all 3) didn't have students in the schools/levels that the books were found or at all. They weren't ignoring parents that actually had relevance and they even provided ways for other parents, who may have been affected/offended by the books in the relevant schools to object to those books being available for their children. It supports that the schools were ignoring the parents and using force to silence them.
Well, it depends on the ban.True story. Two male penguins raise a chick...book is banned. I ask, is this protecting children or some republican turning it into something it isn't and then banning it from school.
Who decides which books to ban? Who are they answerable to? Why are books by people like Roberto Clemente and Hank Aaron banned? Are these kinds of actions by one group really representative of america?
The republican culture wars has gotten out of hand. DeSantis attacking Disney? Really?
What do you mean "trust" them? Of course people trust their kids, but any sensible person knows that kids are human beings, and they are also children. They don't generally know what is best for themselves and they can often do things impulsively, without thinking, and without recognizing what adults understand are obvious consequences. I trust my kids, but I don't let them have complete unsupervised access to the internet. I trust my kids, but I don't think they are adults.Parents who don't trust their own kids.
I agree. I also think republicans are going overboard with the books they are banning. Books by Roberto Clemente and Hank Aaron? The book about two male penguins raising a chick that wasn't theirs, banned. Banning books out of prejudice does nobody any good.Well, it depends on the ban.
Choosing appropriate books to stock in a school library is not a violation of the first amendment.
Sure, lots of people go overboard, even the ones who want to put books about sucking d#cks and buttf#cking, and having threesomes while playing hooky from school, and how to transition without one's parents finding out, in the elementar school libraries.I agree. I also think republicans are going overboard with the books they are banning. Books by Roberto Clemente and Hank Aaron? The book about two male penguins raising a chick that wasn't theirs, banned. Banning books out of prejudice does nobody any good.
This is an acceptable system in your opinion, correct?Parents let the school know what books their children cannot checkout, read from the school library. It really isn't that difficult and is available now. Many schools even have lists of their books available online and could easily be given the ability to check a box for a book that their child is not allowed to have.
I don't believe that I did change the crux but in the spirit of good debate I am willing to provide you with more context. First I want to be clear on what it is your looking for. Are you asking for examples of activism being taught in classrooms or something else? No, it doesn't. Because at least 2 of them (likely all 3) didn't have students in the schools/levels that the books were found or at all. They weren't ignoring parents that actually had relevance and they even provided ways for other parents, who may have been affected/offended by the books in the relevant schools to object to those books being available for their children.
But you still changed the crux of your argument, which was that activist teachers were providing instructions about certain things you/they disagreed with, when there is not evidence of that in any significant way. School boards and teachers even do not have to accept and act upon every complaint from even parents that do have children in their schools, let alone rightwing activists set to disrupt school board meetings.
