"Human" life is the determiner here, unless you want to argue that humans and tapeworms have the same value. If your argument against abortion is biological (not spiritual), meaning that embryos/fetuses deserve a "right to life" because they are biologically alive (as is sperm), then why do animals not also deserve a right to life, as biologically they meet all the same criteria, if not moreso. Discuss.

Why don't they?

Animals are not on the same playing field as human beings. We've evolved past their basic level of existance for a particular reason.

I fully support the proper hunting and eating of animal - certain kinds I won't touch and prefer others didn't, either, but I don't consider it barbaric or any type of 'sin' or 'moral tangle'
That still doesn't put us at the top of the food chain...
Of course not, we're right in the middle of it with everything else . . . it's one big circle.
However - we exist on a different level of thought, communication and awareness, etc etc etc - which makes us more advanced.
Thus - my dogs live in the back yard and not in my house.
On (at least) one level,... they do.
As does a pre-birth child, blue whale, amoeba and a sparrow... have an equal right to each their own lives.
Would you like for me to explain?
Oh please do. I'm eager to hear how anything in the world has a 'right' to life that's not granted by a governing body.

Probably 'pre-existence', eh?
Ask him what pre-birth is.

Medical Dictionary
Main Entry: 1birth
Pronunciation: 'b&rth
Function: noun
often attributive
1 : the emergence of a new individual from the body of its parent
2 : the act or process of bringing forth young from the womb
A thinking person might ask themself,... "how can a child emerge from their mother,... if there is no child present in the first place?"
I digress.
A person is "born" at the moment of their conception.
That's when they are actually "created" or "brought into existence."
"Birth" delivering a baby from the mother's womb,...is just a change of address for the child who already has been living for about 9 months.
Animals don't have rights they cannot conceive. It'd be like giving cavemen nuclear fission... Or a copy of Hobbes' Leviathan.

Really? I thought birth happened the moment of conceptionSo what is it. Either birth happens at conception or after.
The word "birth" has two meanings.
That is great. But you can only be born once. So which one is it. Either you are born at conception. Or you're born during child birth.
