DICK CHENEY: 'No question' Russia meddled in the US election, and it could be 'an act of war'

In a wide-ranging speech at the " target="_blank">Economic Times' Global Business Summit on Monday, former US Vice President Dick Cheney spoke unequivocally about Russia's meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.

Cheney said there were a "rising number of threats" in the world that, beyond national security, "even pose a threat to the globalization movements you're here to talk about today." Segueing into talking about Russian President Vladimir Putin, Cheney warned of Russia's aggressive actions.

"I think he has designs on the Baltics. ... We know he wanted Crimea — he took it," said Cheney, who pointed to previous Russian cyber campaigns against Baltic states and Russia's recent moves to nuclearize its European enclave of Kaliningrad.

On the subject of the 2016 election, Cheney said Russia attacked the US in a possible act of war. "There's no question that there was a very serious effort made by Mr. Putin and his government, his organization, to interfere in major ways with our basic fundamental democratic processes," Cheney said. "In some quarters, that could be considered an act of war.

Ridiculous. Our gvmt has meddled in elections across the world much more effectively than handing over some crap emails to Wiki.

Cheney is just being loyal to the inside washington establishment and the bush family

Gee, let's see...............

Top government officials, the intelligence community and many other leading Americans say there was tampering....Trump and you say no.

Trump also has said many things that are preposterously untrue and continues to,

And you have no way of knowing one way or the other.

Ergo, the defense of this is weaker than American beer, and Trump's fans will eat **** rather than admit he made a mistake.

If Trump denies it? Then for sure it happened. The man is constitutionally incapable of telling the truth.

And, I wonder could you help me out. Donald Trump has said over a dozen times that he has met Putin and got along very well with him. He has detailed a meeting they had while the Miss Universe pageant was in Moscow.

But since the election he has profusely DENIED he ever met Putin.

One of them has to be an outright lie, not fudging numbers, but a deliberate attempt to deceive..

So which is the lie? One of them has to be.

Can you, as a fan, clear that up. If not can you contact one of his more informed groupies since it's kind of important, don't you agree.. You see, now that there's a report that Putin interfered with the election, Trump's status is in serious question. Did he help his "friend" mess with the election?

That's the issue and you know what. Because Trump is suddenly solemnly silent, I have to assume he did help Putin help him win the election.

How do they know that?

Hackers do not leave any physical evidence to trace back to anyone

The best intelligence services can mimick other nations and make it impossible to prove who is doing what

This is only wishful thinking by liberals

Another GOPolitician, like Sen. Cotton, getting thrown under the trump/Bannon small bus .

I shudder, thinking in general terms I agree with Cheney here.

I do not know if Trump was in the know, but he claimed to have met the man, then backd off. For someone who prufuses there innocence, he sure acts guilty.

Top government officials, the intelligence community and many other leading Americans say there was tampering....

1. Based on information provided to them by a 3rd party. They did not physically examine the servers. In fact, they were specifically denied access.

2. Did you read their report? They had things like Russia Today reporting, which is a freaking joke. Some of the stuff they included, like saying RT's reporting that the two party system doesn't represent a large number of Americans and RT giving a platform to 3rd party candidates. You know what having stuff like that means? It means they don't have jack **** because that's what we call filler.

Hell, using the same low-bar criteria I could make a case for the U.K. interfering with the U.S. elections way more than Russia. They had debates in parliament on whether to ban Trump from entry into their country, using all kinds of derogatory language that went well beyond things RT reported.

True.

And any American who collaberated with those efforts committed a very serious felony and should go to prison for a long time.

I doubt you would even want to look. Might be a black mark on your petty little god, Trump.

I bet you will be wishing on things real soon...if that is you can get past the cool aid you all love so much.

Sheep, Donald bleats and you go into attack mode

I do not know if Trump was in the know, but he claimed to have met the man, then backd off. For someone who prufuses there innocence, he sure acts guilty.

Correction: He did not "back off"...he DENIED the previous claims.

His supporters don't have an explanation for this proof of inherent dishonesty are too frightened to engage.
