Blame is rightly placed. These guys should have been handed over to ICE and deported years ago. Off to El Salvador with them!Mora entered the country illegally through Arizona in 2023 and had two prior arrests for domestic violence in New York. He was wanted in New York to face accusations of robbery and felony assault, and in Massachusetts over a stolen weapons case, Tisch said.
Mora’s criminal history includes charges for assault on a pregnant woman and a stabbing charge in January, two senior law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation told CNN. Mora was wanted for robbing a pawn shop in Massachusetts where guns were stolen, and authorities are looking into whether the semi-automatic weapon used in the attack over the weekend is from the pawn shop, the officials said.
Crazy how that works. It's almost like vaguely blaming things is the point. When asked what policies would have prevented the shooting, Noem did not provide specifics.
Nonsensical bullshit.Blame is rightly placed. These guys should have been handed over to ICE and deported years ago. Off to El Salvador with them!
If true, the fact that he was arrested for assault on a pregnant woman and a stabbing charge and still was not put in immigration custody is concerning. I don't want criminals on my streets. Just another glaring issue with immigration that never seems to get resolved.
Are arrests convictions?

It's getting resolved now. You may not care for the one that is heading this effort to get these POS out of this country, but damn it he is getting it done.If true, the fact that he was arrested for assault on a pregnant woman and a stabbing charge and still was not put in immigration custody is concerning. I don't want criminals on my streets. Just another glaring issue with immigration that never seems to get resolved.
“He was arrested four different times in New York City, and because of the mayor’s policies and sanctuary city policies, was released back to do harm to people and to individuals living in this city,” she said.Blame is rightly placed. These guys should have been handed over to ICE and deported years ago. Off to El Salvador with them!
Doesn't matter. People who are arrested for violent crimes should not get bail. The percentage of people arrested for those crimes that are innocent is negligible. I would rather not risk violent people being out on the street and a risk to the public. We see this WAY too often. Are arrests convictions?

Even if ICE did place an immigration hold, NYC would probably not have honored it because that is how it works in Sanctuary cities/states. They don't honor immigration holds for illegals arrested for crimes. And when you add New York's Bail "reform" laws.....

I agree with her on this.
If they weren't a sanctuary city, ICE would have been notified the first time he was arrested and held. Why? NYC does not have a special "Violent Illegal Immigrants get to go back out onto the streets" Law. It is because of their stupid bail reform laws.
If they weren't a sanctuary city, ICE would have been notified the first time he was arrested and held.
Well then that would be on ICE. If they can't get to them in the 48 extra hold hours, they can't blame anyone but themselves. And? If a state has a revolving door bail system, ICE may not have gotten to him on time.
Or they might have. And? If a state has a revolving door bail system, ICE may not have gotten to him on time.
Im not sure why there isnt 100% agreement on this. I get the idea that hard working, non violent immigrants should have a pathway to stay here and thats something we can debate. But that is not these two. And its obvious that this isnt the first time they rode up and robbed people at gunpoint. Regardless of their race, color or nationality, these guys needed to be off the streets long ago and it is a massive failure of government that they were not.No but if you are not even supposed to be here legally, why should you be let back on the streets to continue to commit crimes? It's not like it was a one time thing, this guy has had multiple arrests and assaults. Would you want him released in your neighborhood?
Of course! What else would you expect that knee-padded MAGA knob polishing dick-head would say?Blame is rightly placed. These guys should have been handed over to ICE and deported years ago. Off to El Salvador with them!
It's pretty clear. Turning him over to ICE rather than releasing him multiple times after arrests for violent crimes. He had a detainer, and NYC policy is to ignore it.When asked what policies would have prevented the shooting, Noem did not provide specifics.
