Dems, would you rather the nominee be a bit more progressive or a bit more centrist?

I think it's pretty much established health care will be one of the top policy ideas. After that would you like to see a more progressive person or someone more centrist?
 

What would you consider the difference?
 
I would prefer for them to be a lot more progressive on health care.
 
More progressive, because in the end, the net result would only nudge the Democratic Party back to a more historically appropriate center-Left position due to it being mostly center or center-Right these days.

No one ever gets everything they want but I am talking about net result, not the platform of one individual.
As a mind exercise, remember that, even IF by some miracle, Sanders had been elected President, he would gotten about what most presidents get, about 10-15 percent of their dream agenda, thus the US would not have suddenly "turned socialist".

The center and Third Way establishment of the Democratic Party isn't going to just up and disappear overnight.
 
Actually, an admixture of both (no, not simultaneously).

are you looking for specifics platform goals? because i would look for exactly what i said above.
a candidate most in touch with the majority of the American people and that candidate can have any little letter after his name he wants. Doesnt matter to me. In that same regard though if Trump is one of them he doesn't fit that description, Trump is about Trump.
 

Bill Clinton pulled the party to the right, resulting in the centrism that defines the Democratic Party today. This has resulted in two parties that oftentimes appear to be the same to be people, which is one of the root causes of disillusionment and one of the reasons why people so often say that their vote doesn't matter (there are more reasons than this, obviously, but that is one of them). By going back to their progressivist roots, the Democratic Party will be returning to the values they profess to stand for, and will provide voters with a real choice again.
 
Doesn't matter who the Dems nominate, Republicans will paint them as socialist, communist, racist against whites, hates the police, terrorist sympathizer, etc. The Dems just need to get out and vote, and ignore whatever drivel Republican politicians, voters, and their media says.
 

I agree with your points, but it's not just the establishment Dems who're not going to disappear. We need the support of everyone from both parties who voted for Numnuts and have the honesty to admit he's a bigger douchebag then they had ever imagined.

It's a fine line, we need to get as progressive as possible and still get elected...
 

I wish this was the case and you might be right in 20' due to the backlash from Numnuts. But if they want to hold onto power long term, I believe the Dems need to stay center/left, with the accent on the left...
