I found this article this morning and thought, "BRILLIANT!" Take down those GOPers who are clearly two-faced, the "I was for it before I was against it" Republican presidential hopefuls like Gingrich, Romney and Huntsman. Speaking of Huntsman...
I watched his speech in New Hampshire this weekend; if I didn't know better I'd swear I was listening to the President speak because much of what Huntsman said was an echo of the types of things President Obama has spoke of throughout his tenure as President. For example, he spoke extensively about the need for civility in our national politics. Isn't that something President Obama has been calling for for some time now? Bipartisanship?
Huntsman also spoke highly concerning our nation's need to be innovators and to trust in American's resolve where the economy is concerned. He even mildly talked down against China cautioning Americans not to become too overwhelmingly concerned about their perceived economic rise or global power stating, "They [China] have their own problems." I couldn't help thinking to myself, "These are the exact same things the President has been speaking about for well over a year now."
I think the strategy Democrats are employing currently in the initial run-up to the 2012 primaries is smart - paint as many of the opposition as near "mirror images of your political ideology". So, unless you agree with the last line of commentary from the article...
...I think it's a smart move.
If nothing else, it should atleast narrow the playing field which is exactly what you want at this early stage of the 2012 presidental race. It'll also do something else: force the GOP hopefuls to find more concrete issues to run on instead of just being in "attack Obama" mode. Right now, no GOP candidate can honestly make the claim the he/she has anything new to offer other than stay in "attack Obama" mode.
I'm staying tuned; it's going to be a very interesting presidential race.

"If Republican primary voters fall for letting the Obama administration pick their nominee by who they don't praise, shame on us," McHenry said. "It ultimately strikes me as a sign of Democrats' weakness. We now know who they're afraid to run against."
