Oregon Democrats appear to have eked out a supermajority in both the state House and Senate, with a narrow win confirmed in a rural Woodburn-based House seat late Tuesday.

Her victory doesn’t just mean Democrats regain the seat they lost two years ago — it gives House Democrats the three-fifths majority needed to increase taxes or pass new taxes without Republican support. That’s especially notable heading into the 2025 session, as lawmakers work to craft a multi-billion-dollar transportation funding package.

This makes me happy. It means that the Republican yahoos who walk out every year when they don't get their way and literally stop state government in its tracks have no power. We had to pass a law to make those who walk out ineligible to run again because it got so bad. Last year several walked out and couldn't run this year. They were shocked when their lawsuits went nowhere because the law was perfectly clear. Buh bye assholes

Not too surprising when one considers Oregon has a PVI of D+6. Which simply means Oregon is 6 points higher for the democrats or more democratic than the rest of the nation. Oregon is a solid democratic state just like the rest of the west coast. California D+14 and Washington D+8. The whole west coast is far to the left of the rest of the nation.

It still doesn't surprise me about the super majority. Oregon is a deep, solid democratic state. Oregon has gone for the democrats in 10 straight presidential elections. The last time Oregon vote republican was in 1984 when Reagan won 49 states.
