Looks like mask and vaccine mandates are going away even in blue states as they follow the lead of red states. BIden is holding firm but really has no control and is being left behind to mumble incoherently to himself.

"With the notable exception of the White House, Democrats at every level are signaling their support for returning to normal as polls show Americans are weary of coronavirus restrictions, which Republican states have largely done away with.

According to a recent poll by Monmouth University, 70% of Americans say it’s time for the country to move on from the pandemic, and a decreasing number of Americans support COVID-related mandates. President Biden’s approval ratings on handling COVID, once a strength, are also now underwater, with 43% approving and 53% disapproving, according to the poll."

"We are not going to manage COVID to zero," Murphy said Monday on Twitter. "We have to learn how to live with COVID as we move from a pandemic to an endemic phase of this virus."

I'm glad they finally discovered science.

moronic right wing lies.

We passed the 4th wave with omicron and entering endemic phase, with vaccine rates and number of infected getting close to herd immunity, and even those who weren't right wing terrorist are tired of complying and being stuck in these conditions becuase right wingers want to be moronic terrorist.

We could have done this a year ago if right wingers weren't such terrorist POS

I was just saying yesterday how are right wingers going to whine about this. Well, here it is. So predictable

Just some more FOX News bullshit spin. The adults in the room, mostly Democrats, have always, from day one, dealt with the pandemic in a fluid way, lifting restrictions when positive signs indicated, and tightening them again during flareups that threatened the ability of hospitals to respond. As the inevitable wane of the severity of the virus currently dictates, now is no different than it was last year, nor the year before.

Yeah, the Republicans and Trump supporters seem incapable of reacting to changes in the real world.

Mandates were political and removing them is the same. Democrats have decided they have lost the mandate war and are throwing in the mask.

Nope.

The masks aren't very useful against Omicron to begin with, and the cases are dropping like a rock.

This wave is over.

Yup, omicron is over and it looks like, unless a new more deadly variant comes about, its time to get back to normal.

Apparently you didn't bother to read the OP very well in your haste to trash talk. If you had taken the time what Murphy said here . . .
"We have to learn how to live with COVID as we move from a pandemic to an endemic phase of this virus." . . . might have sunk in. She admits we're still living in the pandemic phrase.

Biden disagees. Democrats are fracturing on this as the public sides with conservative. States are dissing Biden because governors don't want their poll numbers in the same toilet his are in..

Man, after making fun of a bunch of these people for not knowing how things play out after a major event, you would think that they would be embarrassed.

Fox News must really be pushing this.

Just look at the case numbers.

Funny how this time last week it was a raging pandemic. Since then a political decision has been made to declare victory and move on.

Its amazing how conservatives can find a conspiracy in very normal and expected political developments.

The numbers are dropping fast enough that week to week changes are significant.

Indeed. It's true and widely recognized. It's a diagnosible deficiency in their thought processes.

It's the same reason they insist that scientific discovery is suspicious and flawed because it constantly revises itself based on new data. They want everything in their lives to be black and white - unchanging and set in stone. It is a crippling insecurity, and a pathological inability to adapt to a changing world.

Its actually a fear reaction.

Americans aren't the only ones whose political leanings are influenced by fear. A 2003 review of research conducted in five countries looked at 22 separate tests of the hypothesis that fear fuels conservative viewpoints and found it was universally true.

What ever happened to the fearmongering that unless we continue in the direction of mandates that even though Omicron was less deadly speeding the virus might lead to a more deadly variant of it? Wasn't it not too long ago that a variant of Omicron was discovered that appeared more deadly than the original Omicron?

Never have been before but now with an election coming and the public opinion shifting democrats are pivoting. This is a pure politics.

That's yesterdays narrative and by yesterday I mean yesterday. A political decision was made virtually overnight to declare victory over covid and drop mandates.

Its actually the numbers

Feb 10 - 7 day average of new cases - 221,939
Feb 3 - 7 day average of new cases - 354,542

That over 100k cases/day in a week and its a very steep decline. Its good timing to begin thinking about going back to normal.

I use to work in a chemical plant where caution tape was used to warn people of dangerous chemicals in the area. Magically the chemicals knew not to cross that caution tape. :lol Apparently one day makes a huge difference when it comes to covid.
