The U.K. government today sacked Lord Peter Mandelson as ambassador to the U.S. Why?

The dismissal came "after a flurry of emails and other correspondence painted a vivid portrait of his close ties to the financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In a statement, the British Foreign Office said, 'The emails show that the depth and extent of Peter Mandelson’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein is materially different from that known at the time of his appointment.'” (New York Times, Paywall)

Watched it unfolding via BBC. How many more will follow on both sides of the Atlantic?
