Ballot harvesting is the practice in which political operatives collect mail in ballots from voters’ homes and drop them off at a polling place or election office. It may sound pretty innocuous, but this practice can and has been abused across the country.
The Republicans wanted to restrict this practice in the voting reform bill, but the Democrats won't do it.
Voter ID and signature verification aren't the end of Democracy.
It's only the end of the scam.
 
As I say. Trump or someone like him would simply say the voter Id's were fake when they lost. Proabably claim China flew in millions of fake id's.
 

The practice (currently) varies by state law. It’s potential for abuse is obvious since there is no guarantee that the ‘ballot harvester’ is not also helping the voter fill out the ballot choices or offering that ‘service’ to (selected) voters based on their known (or likely) political party preference.

Exactly, especially the preying on the elderly, disabled and mentally challenged.

True, they could accidentally lose some ballots after a brief conversation (or other indicator) leads then to believe that a given voter selected ‘wrongly’.
 
Anyone can help anyone else with their ballot. No need for harvesting, just a phone call.
 
VOTER ID and Ballot harvesting are both nonsense with fairy tales attached aka made up crap. Here's the party that claims to be less government yet talk more government control beyond reality.

Voter ID is not necessary = we have voter registration with our names on them, we have a drivers license with our picture. There is no voter fraud EXCEPT by elected anti American GOP politicians who claim they live at a UPS store in a strip mall. So who is behind this Voter ID crap = Koch Style Fascist Party.

The problem is in who gets (or is denied) that additional (and completely optional) service.

You Voter ID and Ballot Harvesting anti American slaves have no case whatsoever. ALEC has a monster misinformation budget and may well be the largest misinformation warehouse on planet earth.
 
I don't entirely disagree but legitimate ballot harvesting exists for a reason, because voting isn't always as easy as it should be in the US, nor is it always equally easy across the country and across various states.

Based on what I've seen, I'd suggest one thing that would be beneficial there would be something like ten times more polling places and more evenly spread, so that they're within walking distance of the majority of homes and thus allowing many more people to quickly and easily vote in person. For the vast majority of voters the vast majority of the time, it shouldn't be necessary to drive or queue (for any significant length of time) to vote.

The fact that, despite extensive early and postal voting, you still routinely have people queuing for hours to vote is unbelievable in a modern democracy.
 
So the California GOP is breaking federal election laws thus should be busted. The party of criminal activity is committing crime 24/7.
 
The people trying to convince us about ballot harvesting have no idea what they are talking about thus got duped by an ALEC talking head ..........

I would agree that throwing out certain ballots is a problem, but why is selectivly offering to help with delivery a problem (from a moral perspective)?

Confirmation of who the voter is (the voter ID), is still needed to process the vote. Votes that are doubles are not counted. Throwing the vote away is still possible but then again, you would need to know who the voter is voting for first and then do more harvesting of votes for that person than just a few, before any difference might happen. It is difficult to visualize any thrown-away votes harvesting for one specific individual that would be sufficient to make a difference to the total votes.

In the Conspiracy world that scenario is possible. In the real world, that scenario would present too many problems and too many pitfalls as to actually be doable.

As it is, in most elections there has been voter fraud found but always in insignificant numbers, meaning that so far such a scenario in which such large numbers would be needed to even potentially be a problem that would generate election fraud that changed the election is almost impossible to accomplish.

It is like saying that Superman and his otherworldly powers can exist. It is possible, but the odds of that happens are even higher than winning the lotto.

It’s more likely to be done in urban areas than in rural areas because the return on the investment of volunteered time is greater. Which political party might that benefit?
