Tsar Bomba, the King of all Bombs. No other man made explosion has come close to the power of 1961 test. Its yield was ten times greater then all of the munitions exploded during WWII. It was not a practical weapon, but a Cold War political stunt to frighten the West. Weighing 27 tons and 8 meters long, the TU-95 that carried had to be specially modified. Parachute retarded, it detonated 4km over the Novaya Zemlya testing grounds. It initially created a 6.5km wide fireball, Light from the detonation was visible 1,000 km away; blast damage 1000km away; the mushroom cloud rose as high as 64 km and developed to a width of 30-40 km.

If I recall correctly, it was originally supposed to be closer to 100 megatons but the scientists working on it tweaked the design, fearing that the plane had no chance of escaping the shockwave if something that powerful went off.
 
Such a weapon is, for all practical purposes, an oversize propaganda prop.

Tsar Bomba was designed with an extra stage, possibly two extra that would've boosted its yield to theoretically 100 megatons but instead the stages were filled with inert rather than nuclear fissionable/fusionable material so the yield was held back to 50 megatons. As was posted, it was never a practical weapon though I'm sure with time it would've been reduced in size that it could've been.

The largest deployed nuclear warhead on a delivery vehicle was a 25 megaton that the Soviets attached as single warheads to some SS-18s (the largest ICBM in the world) that were theoretically capable of destroying NORAD or SAC headquarters with single hits.
 
The Tsar Bomba...a shining example to mankind's determination to destroy as much and kill as many as possible.
 
The Tsar Bomba was never a usable weapon as it was so heavy no aircraft could carry it that could hope to get past even feeble defences.
