I was kidnapped and molested, as a child, and though it DID make a difference in my life,
I know now that God didn't give me more than I could handle.
Even back then, I wouldn't have desired DEATH for the man;
he, himself, was damaged and deluded.
And as liberal as this sounds, I'd want HIM to have access to loving/caring help and support,
rather than throwing him into another hell on earth.

But death would have been the only absolute way of knowing he would never ever harm another innocent child. As harsh as it may seem we don't try to treat a dog with rabies.
I don't see why we can't just lock them away for the rest of their lives? What's wrong with that? Taxpayer dollars pay to execute someone you know.
Tax dollars shouldn't be necessary for execution.
Well, the reality is that they are, and so are all the appeals and anything else. Besides, killing them is sometimes giving them the easy way out.
I also think that prison life should be a lot more unpleasant than it is though. Prisoners should have to work, perhaps doing the jobs that people claim illegal immigrants do now. I have LOTS of ideas.
Why stop there? The incidents of every crime would plummet if we just attached the death penalty to them!
The reality is that we could fix the problem of wasting money to put them down. Slavery, making them earn above what it costs to keep them alive and monitored, is one of the few arguments suggesting benefit of sparing them.
Like what? And how would you know? Have YOU ever been dead before? I don't think you can measure that.
Yes.
As I understand it, rape use to be a capital crime in America but society's values changed on the subject thinking the death penalty was too harsh a punishment especially in light of difficult to know for sure circumstances. Juries began aquitting rapists to keep from sending them to their deaths. It's a sad state of affairs as statistically rape is a crime most perpetrators do in fact get away with.
Law enforcement, the courts and society in general have failed in protecting our mothers, sisters, daughters, wifves and girlfriends. The best advice we can offer if to have our female loved once to stay alert and avoid situations that make them vunerable. Carrying pepper spray might be a good idea.
It's not slavery. It's paying back a debt to society. And it's MUCH more preferable to the state murdering citizens, because that's all execution is.
Fair point and I should have specified violent rape where a woman through no fault of her own is attacked and raped. Date rapes and he said she said scenarios are IMO in a different category. I hope this does not derail the thread though.
It being housed and provided for in a low quality hotel with free room service and medical care for life. Why should a poor person bother buying lottery tickets when they can automatically win a lifetime benefits lottery by raping some children?
There's nothing rewarding about prison, it's not "free room and board" as you are not free to leave, you are enslaved to the State and if you think that living as a Slave is "winning the lottery", well we're gonna have to disagree. It's like saying the slaves once owned before won the lottery as their housing and food was taken care of and all they had to do was exchange work to keep it. Of course, slavery wasn't winning the lottery because you were a slave. Just as prison is not winning the lottery because you are a slave.
But I guess you wouldn't mind being thrown in federal prison should you ever do anything wrong, I mean, cha-ching! right?
Being in prison is not the same as slavery whatsoever.
I'd rather be living in a prison than living under a bridge. I'd rather be in prison that beaten, raped and totured to death - such as the criminal did.
A "life sentence" to free-living is acceptable to me for certain crimes.
I'm so tired of this blaming the victim BS. It's sad this attitude still exists, and completely illogical that it is applied only to crimes against women. Nobody would ever say a man raped by another man was "asking for it" in some way even if he was black out drunk and running around naked at a party full of gay men.

simple solution....pedophiles need to know there is no more segregating them in prison...
if you are a pedophile you have to serve your entire time in the general population...
let them know the fear they dealt to the kid they raped and tortued...
why protect them
So if a woman is jogging down the street and a rapist drags her into the bushes, holds a knife to her throat and rapes her you would equate that to a woman that goes into a dorm room with a bunch of guys and takes drugs and drinks until she passes out? Both those women are just the same?
