Russian trolls blamed Ukraine for MH17 in 65,000 tweets after disaster: report

In the two days after flight MH17 was shot down over eastern Ukraine, a Russian troll factory posted over 65 thousand tweets blaming Ukraine for the disaster, De Groene Amsterdammer reports after analyzing 9 million tweets posted by a St Petersburg based troll factory called the Internet Research Agency.

According to the magazine, an organized campaign was launched after MH17 was shot down. The Internet Research Agency played a role in this, as did pro-Russia media who circulated theories that 'proved' Russia innocent in the disaster.

Immediately after the disaster, the factory posted 40,931 tweets using hashtags like #Kievshotboeingdown and #KievProvocation, according to the magazine. The next day another 24,844 such tweets were posted. According to De Groene Amsterdammer, the campaign lasted less than 24 hours. After July 19th, 2014, the Internet Research Agency still tweeted about MH17, but much less actively and often than during the operation.

De Groene Amsterdammer reported last year that Russian trolls focussed on MH17 after the disaster, but the scale of the operation was unclear until now.

More proof of the dirty rotten tricks used by the evil Russian trolls and their masters.

From a Dutch newspaper:
Persistent story.

One of the most persistent stories that the trolls point to in their tweets is the story of the Spanish traffic control employee Carlos, which was written by blogger Katya Timofeeva. The Spaniard tweeted immediately after the shooting down of MH17 that he had seen two fighter jets next to the plane.

The story was immediately used by the Russian media. Worldwide blogs and twitter users referenced it. A year later Putin pointed to this story in an interview with Oliver Stone, blaming Ukraine for the downing of MH17. The blog of Timofeeva still exists but is no longer active.

Prosecuted for fraud.

As soon as Timofeeva's blog story appeared online, it was retweeted about one hundred times in 6 minutes. Sixty of those tweets were sent in the space of one minute, according to the Green Amsterdammer. It appears to have been a coordinated effort and people also think Timofeeva is a troll.

Traffic controller Carlos, who had been claiming to have worked for traffic control in Kiev for five years, was in fact living in Romania and was being prosecuted in Romania by the Spanish government for fraud, according to investigations done by Radio Free Europe. And even though his account has been completely debunked, conspiracy theorist keep using his fake story in an effort to clear Russia of that which it has done.

If it were up to me all Russians involved would be put on a Europol arrest list so that anytime any of these evil trolls or their masters appear anywhere in Europe they will be arrested and extradited to the Netherlands or Malaysia/Australia for prosecution.

Internet Research Agency building at 55 Savushkina Street, St Petersburg, Russia.

The Internet Research Agency (IRA) located at 55 Savushkina Street in St Petersburg is also referred to as the 24/7 troll factory. According to Lyudmila Savchuk who worked for and then exposed the operation in 2015, the building contains three floors of English speaking Russians paid to troll online Western newspapers, social media, etc. in three shifts. They have a quota to meet and can access a library of clip art images and photographs. There is another building in the same neighborhood leased to an operation called Glavset which is a second internet troll factory.

These 24/7 troll operations are owned by Yevgeny Prigozhin, a Russian oligarch and Putin crony who, under the Concord Management umbrella, also owns the Wagner Group, Russia's largest mercenary firm that works closely with the Kremlin, and Concord Catering which supplies all meals to the Kremlin and the Russian armed forces. Prigozhin is under Western sanctions.

Russian state-owned media outfits like RT/Sputnik/TASS still claim that Ukraine downed Malaysian Flight MH17 on 17 July 2014 which killed all 290 people aboard. However, the Dutch Safety Board (DSB) and the Dutch-led joint investigation team (JIT) which also included Belgium, Ukraine, Australia, and Malaysia, have concluded from the evidence that the Russian 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade in Kursk used a Russian BUK anti-air missile to shoot down MH-17. At the UN, Moscow has vetoed every measure to bring the perpetrators to justice via an International Tribunal.

Our government is probably largely owned and operated by these Russian trolls right now.

So is a large part of our populace.

Europeans are on their own right now, at least until we can get our government back. Good luck, because European governments are under siege by them as well.
