Coup in Niger

It's not a trend. It's been happening for 70 years.

That should about seal the fate of the President. That is unless France choses to intervene. But then that would be going back to the Cold War days when French policies in the ex colonies were much more muscular and interventionist.

I have a feeling things are fast going back to the Cold War days. It is one thing the nations having their own coups. It is also another if it is a case of Russia picking up chips in CAR, Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso etc... it then becomes the business of France, US etc

French Embassy in Niger Attacked as Protesters March Through Capital​


NIAMEY —
Thousands of supporters of the junta that took over Niger in a coup last week marched Sunday through the streets of the capital, Niamey, waving Russian flags, chanting the name of the Russian president and forcefully denouncing former colonial power France.
 
German troups in nearby Mali rely on Niger for their security. This could create new problems.

Berlin has ordered the withdrawal of all German peacekeeping troops from Mali by the end of 2023.

They are being replaced by Russia's Wagner terrorists.

 

Germany suspends cooperation with Niger after coup​



Germany has said it is putting financial and development aid to Niger on hold following last week's coup. However, officials added that evacuation of German citizens or soldiers is not currently considered necessary.
