"When U.S. President Donald Trump called Norway's finance minister last month to discuss trade tariffs, he also asked about the Nobel Peace Prize, Norwegian business daily Dagens Naeringsliv reported on Thursday.

Several countries including Israel, Pakistan and Cambodia have nominated Trump for brokering peace agreements or ceasefires, and he has said he deserves the Norwegian-bestowed accolade that four White House predecessors received.

"Out of the blue, while Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg was walking down the street in Oslo, Donald Trump called," Dagens Naeringsliv reported, citing unnamed sources.

"He wanted the Nobel Prize - and to discuss tariffs.""

The art of deal. Worth a try, I suppose. Trump treated so unfairly by the rest of the world. His glory is our nation's top priority.

I'll tell you one thing, if screws this weekend up, the Nobel Prize is forever gone to Trump. And I suspect he knows it. I just don't believe Trump can out think/out smart Putin. There's a lot on the line here for Trump.

To be honest, I don't think Obama deserved one, either. That's not a strike against Obama, and he never lobbied for the award. I just think that there has to be criteria beyond winning an election.

Awarding the Nobel prize in any category to Trump would basically be making a mockery of the award across all its categories.

Agree with all of this. Trump should in no way qualify for any prize. IMO, he's qualified for a 10 year sentence in federal prison. But that's just me !

I believe his actions regarding Gaza are even more disqualifying than those in the peace process in Ukraine. The Committee is bound by the testament, and the prize should go to: “the person who, during the past year, has done the most or the best for the reconciliation of peoples, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies, or for the holding of peace congresses.”

If memory serves, Obama didn't think he deserved it either, and said so.

Look. People now actually care about the Nobel Prize and Trump deserves to win because of all the stuff he's done on multiple fronts. It's a win-win for everyone unless you're inflicted with TDS.

Trump is pathetic.

What Putin has over Trump in spades is that Trump thinks they are friends, and Putin knows they aren't. And Trump CRAVES the adoration, and will do whatever it takes to get that.
Mark it down.

So, people just now care?
Well since that is bullshit, I won't even go a single word past that.

Trump must think everyone is as stupid as he is, or as corrupt as he is? Maybe both? He does after all look down on most folks who are not dictators.

"Look what I made them do!"

The Norwegian government does bot decide to whom the Nobel Peace Prize should be given. So the answer to the question in the thread title is 'No'.

If memory serves, Obama didn't think he deserved it either, and said so.

I believe you're correct, and as I said, I wasn't trying to ding Obama 'cause he didn't lobby for the award. Got one anyway. In the context of 2009, coming out of a Republican regime that presided over the worst financial crisis the developed world had seen in 80 years and a disastrous America First foreign policy that led to the invasion of Iraq and prolonged occupation of Afghanistan, I get why they wanted to reward American voters for good behavior. Maybe it was the American voter who deserved some sort of Nobel...participation trophy.

That depends whether the Norwegian Nobel Committee can be bought.

So he's thinking of trying to get the Peace Prize by bribery.

The Nobel Committee lost all their credibility and the Nobel Peace Prize lost all its value with me when the Nobel Committee awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to Obama for basically showing up and mouthing words they liked.

His bottomless pit of neediness is remarkable.

That.

He doesn't see himself as corrupt but "clever". Remember, he's psychotic. He has no sense of right and wrong
