Could the West propose peace directly to the Russian people?

I can't see how it would work.

They have access to our media now. What could anyone tell them they don't know? Knowing the Russian psyche I suspect it would piss them off to be told what to do by a 'westerner' and because they are almost as stubborn as Poles it would probably unite them.

Americans do not realize how much the "West" is feared and hated in Eastern Europe. Even Lech Walensa said of Americans "there is nothing to fear if we don't let them in", after recieving millions from the American people. People forget they were never 'freed' after the war, they went from being occupied by Germany to being occupied by Russia; they never witnessed the great American Army and its generous soldiers. All they know is what they have been told by Russians.
I'm going to plead ignorance right off the bat. I really have no idea the level of access the average Russian has to our media. Or any media outside Russia. But, I've thought about it and would be interested in your information. When you say "they" have access to our media now, are these just the few among many?

I don't rely on government functionaries to monitor anything successfully. How did Israel get their weapons and they were a much smaller country.
What weapons are you talking about? Back to the topic. Don't you think the Russians knew how many nukes Ukraine had?

No. There were thousands of weapons many off the books including suitcase nukes.

Dont we have to first have a free media first? In the Cold War days it was unthinkable in the west censoring media from behind the Iron Curtain. The west was free and confident then. The challenge from the west to the east was "tear down this wall". Today the roles have switched. It is the west that lacks confidence and resembles the Soviets in banning media. Supposedely the Russian media spreads "misinformation". The Soviets did less? How come the west of the Cold War days was confident that a free society with a free press can brave any propaganda the Soviets could toss out, but the west of today lacks that confidence?

To communicate to the Russian people our media has to freely operate there. The only reason they cannot at present is because the woke west of today censors with the zeal of Joseph Stalin

Lacks confidence, maybe. Resembles the Soviets in banning media, no.

Where did you find that "information"? RT?
The collapsing Soviet state. The terrible inefficient bureaucracy. Approximate numbers of weapons. Knowledge of suitcase nukes. Animosity between Russia and Ukraine.

Using our communication and media expertise could we communicate directly to the Russian people and propose a peace treaty that would guarantee them help becoming a democracy and a place in the European community.

In my opinion, there is zero chance of that happening.

Most Russians have little interest in throwing off the authoritarian yoke.

The last time that happened (under Yeltsin) utter chaos enveloped Russia.
