Could Schwartzennegar knock out Boxer in 2010

Why do you say that? Yes, she's possible, but Hawaii isn't exactly a swing state, and there's at a fairly deep bench for the dems in the state. And like I said, it's probably the most Obama-loving state in the union. What makes you so certain Lingle will win?

Just because Lingle is a Republican in a Democratic state does not mean that she won't win. She will win because she is by far the most popular politician in the state, with the possible exception of Inouye. The mindset of whether someone is going to be successful just because they have a D or R by their names just does not work, because people look at much more than party affiliation. (Example: California is a Democratic state, yet they voted for Arnold.)

Lingle is not Governor because she is either Democratic or Republican. She is Governor because she is doing something right, and people on both sides of the aisle, as well as independents, can plainly see it.

It is a mistake to look at Arnold and assume that it has any bearing anywhere else. Firstly, he has star power that no other person has. Second, he has two incredibly weak opponents: Bustemante and Angelides. Hell, I voted for Arnold instead of Angelides, and I'm fairly liberal. That should tell you something.

By the way, what evidence do you have that she's the most popular candidate in the state? Do you have numbers to back you up?

Another thing to keep in mind also, is resources. There's going to be high profile races in Florida, Nevada, Ohio, Missouri, Pennsylvania... The GOP is going to be too busy defending states and going after the lower hanging fruit (Colorado, possibly Illionois, Nevada), to worry about Hawaii.

Also like I said, you're not factoring in Obama. If he has coattails in any state, it's Hawaii.

Lingle's favorability in 2004 was 64%.

During her last campaign for Governor, Lingle won EVERY SINGLE COUNTY.

In 2008, while most Republicans were crashing and burning, Lingle's approval was in the 70's, where it has consistently been since 2006.

The problem with the Republican party in Hawaii is not Lingle. It is the fact that there is only one of her. The Dems own everything else political in Hawaii. But Lingle's uniqueness is good enough to make her a Senator in 2010. That is my prediction (If Inouye retires).

Now, as to your argument that Republicans are going to have major problems in 2010, I do not disagree with you at all. By my own reckoning, I figure the Dems to end up with 62-63 seats after the 2010 elections. The GOP still has some mutts that are going to lose badly, such as senile Jim Bunning of Kentucky. But if Inouye retires, Lingle is a shoein for Senator unless something very dramatically negative happens in the Governor's mansion.

Ah, thanks. I think we can agree to disagree on Lingle, untill 2010 happens, of course. As to Arnie, no way in hell. Trust me, I know my state.

I would enjoy the removal of Boxer in 2010 but, I’d rather have a different flavor, may be libertarian, green, or independent.
I want to see Major Owens back in the House. That man was pure entertainment. :rofl
