According to this, his popularity is rising.
He's still behind Trump and Carson, but gaining fast, and neither the first or second place candidates are electable absent a total failure on the part of the Democrats.

He's inexperienced, but could be the best choice of a lot of poor choices.

I think the combination of his inexperience and rather strident social conservatism (Huckabee was the first to endorse him during his Senate run for a reason) might doom him if it came down to a battle among the establishment candidates. The real question is of the joke tier candidates like Trump and Carson can be edged out of the way to let the kind of fight happen.

Rubio is certainly a candidate to watch. If the polls conclude that the public grows tired of the charlatans posing as Presidential candidates, Rubio has come out relatively unharmed.

Rubio is young (an attractive, though ordinarily handicapping condition for leadership), his outlook is positive, he is conservative (though perhaps we should argue that the Tea Party is less familiar with conservatism than they've let on), and he has not burned any significant bridges this far.

Without the anti-experience impulse thriving, I do not think Rubio's candidacy could witness such opportunities. In order to tame and mature the voters, they have to navigate their way back to reality. Rubio would have best been served adding some more terms to his tenure in the Senate, but in present circumstances, Rubio comes out looking quite favorable, though not as favorable as other candidates with more experience.

"Joke tier candidates". I like that one. If they can't be edged out of the way, then we'll have at least one joke running for president in '16.

Oh, well, we've had jokes before and some of them have been elected.

Rubio is a little green but I could see it happening. He seems to be consistently polling as the highest candidate outside the "joke tier". If he paired himself with an experienced VP pick I could see it leading to the White House. They could sure use a candidate that can help remove the illusion that the Republicans are only a party of rich white people. In order to win they are going to have to draw some votes from the established Democratic base of minorities and poor. Not going to get them all of course but a small percentage could go a long way.

Of course he is. The Great Cpwill Called It Years Ago.

Depends on if he can survive the Democrat's hate and lie machine.

Poor choices? I see a field of very qualified candidates. Rubio does not have the executive level experience that i want in a potus. Nor has he shown personal responsibility with his own finances and i also dont give a pass to him on work ethic because he is running for potus. Bush was right, and just because others did it doesnt make it ok

very qualified candidates??

Are you describing the two front runners of the Republican party,
or perhaps the two of the Democratic party?

I don't see "very qualified" on either side, but that's just me.

Hit The Hell No Button On That One!

For starters, Rubio is the establishment donor classes second choice. Bush is imploding so bad they are looking at their options. Rubio seems to be it.

Obviously he will do what ever they tell him to. But even more relevant is the fact he just doesn't have the experience or even accomplishments to be POTUS.

Can't even manage his own affairs for crying out loud. What's Rubio ever accomplished? .....pretty quiet.....

The only thing I see he has going for him is a young quick mind that preforms well in debates. That a POTUS does not make.

Good point.

So who are you? Post #1 with no intro -- are you someone I muted/ignored and your back ??

It would take a governor to meet the criterion of "very qualified."

A senator is at best an amateur.

A congressman even less so.

A businessman/woman would not be qualified in the normal sense of the word however Trump and Fiorina seem surprisingly intelligent and might be able to pull it off together if they can get used to each others' face and un-poison the well.

I think Rubio is getting somewhat of a bum rap in regards to his personal finances. He hasn't gone bankrupt as Trump has. He's not anywhere near as rich as most of the others so he has had to resort to doing many of the same things that the average Joe and Jane have to do. That actually makes him kind of appealing to me. It disgusts me to hear Hillary talk about how she is for the little guy. She has no idea what a little guy is. Rubio does.

Trump has never filed for bankruptcy, some of his businesses have. He has played by the rules of the field to his advantage.

It doesnt take much to live up to your responsibilities as a citizen. Rubio has neglected some of his. Thats a fair criticism.

Im referring to the governors in the field with historys of success (lowering taxes while balancing budgets, increasing jobs, etc) (bush, kasich, huckabee, jindal, even christy)

Im referring to the executives who have had ultimate responsibility for results (trump, fiorina, bush)

People who have held jobs other than politician or gov employee( cruz, carson, paul, trump, bush, fiorina,

In my mind, rubio is least qualified of all the field.

I can see rubio being a solid vp choice. Although i thought that in 2012 also. Why he wasnt? Idk. Perhaps the vetting process uncovered some real dirt. A sex tape perhaps. If my wife were a dolphins cheerleader id have.a dozen of them floating around

Just read an article recently about the results of Mitt Romney's vetting of Rubio for VP. He came out squeaky clean.

Didn't know that about Rubio's wife. I'm voting for him for sure now, as long as she is right there by his side - wearing her cheerleader outfit.

True--in fact the biggest joke of them all is serving right now.

Oh, I see.

The only ones not so far back in the pack as to have little shot at the nomination, at least currently, are Trump and Carson. If the Trumpeteers have their way, he'll be running against Clinton in '16. I'm sure the Democrats think that's a great idea.

Personally i think the kasich rubio ticket brings in the most independents and in 2 key swing states

I could easily see that going well. Republicans should historically have the advantage this election, especially with Obama's approval ratings being as low as they are. As long as the Republicans don't nominate someone that alienates so many moderates (Trump, Carson, Cruz,) they should have a good chance.

Dont underestimate the power of free stuff

Is that what buys votes? Is that why republicans vote republican? I think not
