Donalds was nominated as conservatives' alternative to embattled House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, whose quest for the gavel has been derailed by 20 lawmakers in his caucus including Donalds.

When announcing the nomination in the first round, Texas GOP Rep. Chip Roy noted the historic nature of having two black candidates for House Speaker. It came after Democrat Rep. Pete Aguilar nominated incoming Democratic Majority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for the gavel.

It earned a standing ovation from both sides of the House chamber - but Bush was not moved.

'He is a prop,' Bush, who is also black, wrote on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.

'Despite being Black, he supports a policy agenda intent on upholding and perpetuating white supremacy. His name being in the mix is not progress—it’s pathetic.'

You've touched on the part that the white-greivance types in this thread don't want to discuss.

Donalds is a ONE-term congressman who doesn't even know his way around the Capital yet. He's also a felon, btw.

Donalds is "qualified" for one reason, and ONLY one reason. He's a black GOPer, and the opposition candidate is a black Democrat.

Donalds is "qualified" for the EXACT same reason that similarly UNDER-QUALIFIED black GOPers (i.e. Clarence Thomas, Alan Keyes, Allen West, etc.) have been elevated in statue by their party over the years. They are "props" to shield racist GOPers from being called what they are.

While Cory Bush is not exactly very articulate and definitely used some unsavory words, I understood where she was coming from. Donalds had been a US Repr for two years and is learning the process. He is not qualified to be Speaker and sorry, but I do believe he was nominated to compete with Jefferies and that is what she meant by using the word "prop"

Having said that sometimes things are better left unsaid and let the people decide what they think for themselves.
