You really do have no clue, do you.
where was your evidence that it was a fact? Last time I checked it said Commander and Chief when Obama is mentioned.
Ask Osama Bin Laden if anyone has been in charge after Bush left, ooh wait, he can't. Must mean someone was in charge, and I am pretty sure his name was and is Barack Obama.
Puh-lease!
Another nice example of opinion used as fact.
There has been growth, business is growing and with all the actions Obama has taken to shore up businesses you might find he is anti-business but I do not agree with that opinion.
Obama has slowed the bleeding and has put the country back on a blood transfusion but with little blood to put back into the country due to the fact that all other countries in the world have virtually bled out there is a lack of enough blood to bring the patient back to life in with great speed.
If someone thinks deep economic downturns like the one of 2008 are solved in 3 year, I have a nice plot of building land smack down in the middle of the Louisiana Bayou that I am willing to sell to them.
A couple of things really...
Unemployment though still high is down 2% points from its high of just over 10% during the first year of Obama's presidency.
A renewed emphasis has been placed on education in this country. Have you have watched the segment "Jay Walking" on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno? How about the comic skit of Jimmy Fallen when people crowd into a photo booth to take pictures only to be mocked? These people - some college aged students others adults - not so bright are they? Then took at a young child with an iPhone in their hands or learning from their laptops? And what about changes in our education system through initiatives fostered by Race to the Top? What about the efforts to promote teachers who teach and fire those who don't? Where tenure is no longer that single most catalyst for advancement?
What about infrastructure improvements? I'm sure you've read reports of gas pipe explosions that have occured in various cities across the country. Add the fall-out from natural disasters, i.e., forest fires, hurricans, floods, tornados, earthquakes - this country has had more than its share of troubles. And yet, it has been Republicans who have insisted on "off-setting funds to pay for disaster relief recovery".
Under Conservatism, the private sector is suppose to help provide for the needed, as well as help repair the nation. But instead they're trying to find ways to increase profits for themselves which includes writing the laws the help their causes, not "the will of the People". Congress is corrupt! If you doubt me, ask yourself how can our elected officials in Washington claim to uphold the Constitution and do the will of the People on one hand while also allowing lobbyist to take more and more control from the People? Whose voice do you really hear in SuperPAC ads? The candidates who "endorse this message" or the politicians who don't? Who contributes all that money to political campaigns?
Only those who are blind to the truth cannot see; Republicans are tearing this country apart! This is why members of their own party - some still in Congress but others who have left - have been saying since the GOP presidential debates that "the Republican Party cannot govern itself" right now. They've made this Pledge - NOT to the People but to business interests and since 2010 WHERE ARE THE JOBS? They've convinced the People that it's the President's job to "appropriate" funds by continuously saying, "the President and Democrats haven't passed a budget" since Obama's been in office. But it's not up to the President to pass a budget. It's his responsibility to submit one to Congress every year which he has done (though a few days late on at least one occasion), but he has submitted them. It's up to Congress to act on such budget proposals. Now, you can say that the Democratically held Senate hasn't passed any of the budgets submitted from the House, but you're likely to find their budgets didn't quite measure up to things the nation needs right now or they've been laced with "triggers" - a Keystone XL Pipeline the Administration isn't quite ready to sign off on just yet for example.
Only people who haven't been paying attention and would rather rely on half-truths rather than facts would be against the President.
Hey, code, isn't the no clue comment code for you have no real rebuttal? :coffeepap
The House has submitted a budget on time every year and the Senate has not even considered them. The President has not asked or demanded of implied that they should. This is a complete lack of leadership and it is a perfect decription of this failed leader's style.
Infrastructure improvements that are paid for by the government are paid for by tax revenue that has not been equal to the task because this President has abandoned any fiscal responsibility. This is a complete lack of leadership.
Profits are what provide the capital to invest in ways to improve the company's health and also fund the dividends and the ROI that fire up the value of stocks and the investments of the private citizen. The fact that business is now cowering, afraid of what the next attack of obama will be is evidence that if he understands the economy at all, he is bowing to special interests instead of the good of the country. This is a complete lack of leadership.
republicans are asking the we become responsible, stop robbing the next three generations to pay for our excesses of today and let business do what it does to get the economy moving and grow the jobs needed to employ the growing population. Obama refuses to accept the FACT that this is the only way that America has ever profited in the past. This is a complete lack of leadership.
This president has failed by any measure including his own standards that he set for himself as a candidate. It's time to change partners.
Representative Paul Ryan was a pivotal figure in killing the 2010 Bowles-Simpson agreement, which Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney now holds out as a model for putting America’s fiscal house in order.
The 18-member panel needed 14 votes to send a 10-year plan to trim the debt to Congress for a vote. As his party’s then- ranking member on the House Budget Committee, Ryan led a bloc of three House Republicans who denied the additional votes needed.
All three Senate Republicans on the panel backed the plan and one of them, former New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg, said he believes the House Republicans who rejected it were beholden to an argument by anti-tax advocate Grover Norquist that the measure was tantamount to a tax increase.
What was the point of the speech that said that the government built roads and that the businesses profited from those roads?
President Obama said:The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together.
President Obama said:So we say to ourselves, ever since the founding of this country, you know what, there are some things we do better together.
No. It's an observation of what I have taken from the post.
Background
President Obama had established the commission by executive order after legislation to create a similar panel was defeated in the Senate by a group of Republicans who dropped their previous support for the bill. Mr. Obama told the commission members that “everything has to be on the table” as they consider options for reducing spending and increasing tax revenue. But it was clear that Democrats on the panel were loath to consider reductions in Social Security and most of the Republicans expressed distaste for tax increases.
In November, after the midterm elections, a draft plan was released by Mr. Bowles, the president of the University of North Carolina system and a former White House chief of staff under President Bill Clinton, and Mr. Simpson, a former Republican Senate leader from Wyoming.
It called for deep cuts in domestic and military spending starting in 2012. It would overhaul the tax code, eliminating or reducing the $1 trillion a year in popular tax breaks for individuals and corporations and using the revenues mostly to slash income tax rates but also to reduce deficits. And to make Social Security solvent for 75 years, it would raise payroll taxes for the affluent and reduce future benefits, including by slowly raising the retirement age for full benefits to 69 from 67 by 2075. They said the plan would reduce deficit spending by about $4 trillion over the coming decade.
Thus, a JOBS BILL that includes tax incentives to spur public-private partnerships IS the best way to go about creating jobs and turning the economy around. Now, which candidate has made such proposals? Here's a clude: IT HASN'T BEEN MITT ROMNEY! Because he's relying on Paul Ryan's plans to carry this country forward only even his own party has condemned his measures. In fact, he talks a great talk about supporting Bowles-Simpson but he walked away from those proposals himself.
From Bloomberg Businessweek: "Ryan Helped Derail Simpson-Bowles Plan Romney Now Sees as Model"
Can't you see where this country is headed under a Romney/Ryan ticket? It's madness!!!
Furthermore, Ron Paul was right. We do need to stop printing money out of thin air, but we also need to start producing things here at home, too. We've spend the last 60 years rebuilding the rest of the world since WWII. Don't you think it's time we started taking care of ourselves? Doesn't mean we go down the road of isolationism - that won't help keep us save. We need the help of our allies to maintain peaceful barriers between us and "them". But if we isolate ourselves, we haven't done the country any favors.
His point was - and he brought this to your attention by saying, THE POINT IS!!!!
In the next paragraph, he said...
and just before that he said things like...
"somebody along the line gave you some help."
"There was a great teacher somewhere in your life."
"Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive."
"Somebody invested in roads and bridges."
It's clear to see or hear what he was saying, unless a 'bumper sticker' slogan is more to your liking.
More of the background story on Bowles-Simpson, the story Republicans don't want you to know...
Simpson-Bowles Budget Plan (National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform)
So, once again members of Congress would rather raid the Social Security trust fund than tax the wealth alittle bit more to help pay for the benefits they've come to enjoy.
What did President obama do to implement this? The Dream Act was not approved by Congress, but the President enacted this by Executive Order. Why did he ask for the commission then run from the recommendations?
The Romney Campaign and Lies:
What Is The Calculation Behind Romney's Campaign Of Lies? | OurFuture.org
Interesting article. The romney campaign is attempting to win the election by spreading a series of lies.
According to the article, through the use of the right wing media machine and a continual repetition of the lies, people eventually begin to believe them as truths. The Romney campaign is making false statements again and again, and these lies are presented as statements to the naive voter again and again until he or she believes it to be true.
This technique of repeating lies over and over again, repeating them so much that they become truths has been taken directly out the the third reich's playbook. I don't want to compare Romney to Nazi Germany but these disingenuous methods of gaining voter support closely mimics methods used by the third reich. Making your way into power by the use of some repetitive false statements....
The lies are being placed one by one into the right wing machine by both Romney and Ryan. At the RNC, the false information they spewed to the public is very troubling. If this technique continues to be used more and more frequently, and the entire media machine is compromised, the results would permanently incapacitate the accuracy of the press.
If leaders generate a new statement which is indeed a lie, but it is repeated enough times a person will conclude that the statement must indeed be true because it's so frequently made. For if the statement was a lie, how could it be repeated over and over again and again?
This is just the beginning...
Romney/Ryan will head this country in the right direction.
They realize we need to change our fiscal policies.
They realize we need to gut entitlement programs like Medicare and welfare.
I've already provided you with the answer to that question....to prevent the raiding of the Social Security Trust Fund which in turn would do significant damage to Medicare. If you'd bothered to read the background brief on Bowles-Simpson I provided, you wouldn't be asking such a foolish question.
The DREAM Act, though important, has nothing to do with why Bowles-Simpson wasn't picked up by the President. So, please let's not deflect from the issue at hand. Still, I will give you one clue as to why the DREAM Act is important for America: "patriation".
I'm not sure what it is you're endorsing. The current administration has continuously stopped business from doing business whether it's overriding a court order to resume drilling in the Gulf or revoking licenses to drill off shore on both coasts..
Mitt has challenged the country to become energy independent ala Jack Kennedy, before the end of this decade.
If we do that one thing, the economy problems have been solved and that would be the single best job creation program in history. It also would not cost a penny of government tax funding.
Reagan, observing the tax policies Liberals said, "If it moves, tax it. If it continues to move, regulate it. if it stops moving, subsidize it." You'll excuse me if I'm more than a little suspicious of the bribe and tax pattern of government/business partnerships. Somehow, Amtrak doesn't strike me as the ideal model of a profitable partnership.
You use the opinions of a progressive publication and try and pass it off as fact.... Give me a break.
You have got to be kidding me!? You mean to tell me that construction of the Hoover Dam and Mt. Rushmore where miniscuel achievements and not the engineering and architectual marvels most Americans know them to be? I have got to have some of what you're smokin' if you honestly think a transcontinental oil pipeline THAT WON'T BE CARRYING AMERICAN OIL somehow trumps the transcontinental railroad, the Hoover Dam or Mt. Rushmore!! Please do explain to us your rationale. This I've got to read....opcorn2:
More to the point, Romney was attempting to channel his inner JFK (re: NASA and the space race.) Somehow, I doubt if anything Mitt Romney does would spin-off half the businesses the space program has. But nice try, Mitt!
I wonder how many posters, other than the ideologically committed Obama surrogates, of course, will read Objective Voice's post and wonder if this ridiculous post that doesn't consider the central point of the KEYSTONE XL pipeline, i.e.,BRINGS OIL TO AMERICA, CREATES TENS OF THOUSANDS OF JOBS PLUS BEGINS TO MAKE US MORE ENERGY INDEPENDENT FROM OUR ENEMIES .....but instead makes a transparent attempt to deflect the REALITY of what that KEYSTONE XL pipeline does, and the DISASTER that Obamarrhoidal restrictions on OIL & GAS DEVELOPMENT OF OUR COIUNTRY'S OWN ON & OFFSHORE DRILLING that is OCCURRING WHILE WE ARE POSTING ..... while making the idiotic claim about connecting the issue to the HOOVER DAMN ?!?!?, MT. RUSHMORE ?!?!? HOWZABOUT CONNECTING THE OBAMARRHOIDAL RESTRICTIONS ON OUR OWN GAS & OIL DEVELOPMENT BY PRAISING AMERICA'S CREATIVE BOOGIE WOOGIE MUSIC & what the hell, throw in our glorious HOT DOGS !!!....ALL AS PROOF THAT OBAMA'S CRONY-PAYOLLED "SOLYNDRICAL" ENERGY AGENDA IS A SUCCESS !!!
code1211 said:Mitt has challenged the country to become energy independent ala Jack Kennedy, before the end of this decade.

For your information, I was responding to code1211's claim, towit:
The Keystone XL pipeline may create jobs, but I seriously doubt it will be "the single best job creation program in history". The two progressive era programs I previously mentioned - Hoover Dam and Mt. Rushmore - were far more effective job creators. Furthermore, NASA is still providing employment opportunites and it was created during the Kennedy era.
Try again...
Never said that the Keystone XL pipeline is : "the single best job creation program in history". And neither did Romney. You deliberately attributed Romney of stating, or implying this, when Romney was NOT referring to the Keystone XL pipeline but OBVIOUSLY applauding JFK's perceptive conclusion on an Energy Program in developing OUR OWN GAS, OIL & OTHER ENERGY SOURCES INSTEAD OF THE RELIANCE ON OTHER COUNTRIES.
However, the KEYSTONE XL pipeline is a most definitive example of the Obamarrhoidal idiotic psychosis in negating a positive energy move that would've created tens of thousands of jobs. Plus, augmenting our oil supplies with respect to reducing our dependence on our enemies' oil.
The ridiculous Obama Agenda of restricting, and, in effect almost negating our own on and off shore drilling, and the development of clean coal energy in order to raise the price of oil to unbelievable costs so as to make the failed GREEN ENERGY economically feasible is idiotic beyond belief. Obama's Energy Czar really made an idiot out of himself airing this preposterous notion.....and yet Obama is continuing this madness......and will probably continue doing this if re-elected.
But, to somehow weasel in America's Hoover Dam and Mt. Rushmore accomplishments to somehow justify or exonerate the Obamarrhoidal Idiotic Green Energy Fiasco, however tenuously, is BIZARRE...... no matter how you slice it.

Grim17 hit the nail on the head.
I find this whole election season both sad...and amusing.
It's sad because both sides are using spin, smears, etc to attempt to win. I see this happening because the Democrats refuse to talk about the facts of Obama's record. Their use of a spin campaign has been proven to be effective in the past. The Romney camp has little choice but to respond in a similar manner. Let's face it...our "Entertainment Hollywood" generation responds to this type of campaigning.
It's amusing because we now have the Democrats whining and crying because they are being beaten by their own game.
