We aren't talking about CPAC. Did you stumble into the wrong thread?
Like I said in another post, most people don't proudly wear the badge of being a sinner. [which we all are] These people of faith don't want to play nice, they shouldn't have to.
Wrong. Guy, the "republican base" is not the Republican PARTY. The majority of Republicans did support the positions I just listed. Go read the 1992 GOP platform sometime.
Since this isn't a GOP function, but rather one sponsored by a think tank sponsored by a Christian university, so your argument is pretty much nullified.
So people who wear multiple fibers are showing up in single fiber clothes or naked? Wow. And a 60 year old man with a 24yo trophy girlfriend on his arm isn't obviously a committer of adultery?

You've definitely pointed out one thing, those in those conventions are beyond stupid and unaware of their surroundings.
I'm not an ancient Hebrew so I wouldn't know about the cloth. [you're silly for bringing that up]
How do you know the 60 year old man is married? Or the 24 year old isn't his girlfriend or wife? Your comparison here is not relevant. Everyone knows the LCRs are homosexuals because they advertise it.
So it's okay to be a sinner, just don't tell anyone.... The religious right are hysterically stupid.
We are all sinners, my dear. Some of us are actually attempting to quit.
If you don't understand the difference,I can't help you.
You have to believe in sinning to be a sinner. I don't, so I'm not.
I don't even get why gay Republicans try to connect with their party on anything other than economic issues. Social conservatives don't like them. This is a fact proven time and time again through legislation, statements, and party policy. It doesn't matter how much you support small government if the person you're going home with has the same gender as you. To the average social conservative, gay Republicans simply are an unimportant and insignificant percentage of the Republican party. One whose vote is not required.
Ah. I see. When GOP convention A tells the Log Cabin Republicans, it shouldn't matter at all if GOP convention B does the same thing...even when GOP convention B is much bigger and more newsworthy than GOP convention A.
Is that what you're trying to say?
The big tent has never been bigger than a bivy sack. It is a primarily a White Southern Christian Party and has been for a while.

Well, I'm a white non-religious woman from the northeast. Does that mean I shouldn't try to get under the tent?
I'm also a conservative in the top 5% of earners who doesn't practice religion but fully supports the right others to do so, and who loves big profitable businesses. I'll bet the Democrats would welcome me with open arms.
I'll try and take this one. As I said earlier in the thread I have a lot of friends in both GOProud and Log Cabin Republicans and people always expect a gay republican to fit a particular mold. People tend to assume that they are basically just bohemians concerned about taxes when in fact they run the gamut. There are senior officers in both organizations who are genuine pro-life evangelical christians, and plenty in the rank and file as well. Do they represent the majority or even a large proportion? No. But they are there. The organizations pursue these conventions because their goal is to gain acceptance for their members in the Republican Party, all of their members. Furthermore the goal isn't just to steer the GOP ship of state towards a more socially liberal place, its to try and foster acceptance with all of the big factions within the party and thus widen the tent. Is it a fools errand to try and knock down the door at these things? Maybe, maybe not. But I remember when GOProud got its first booth at CPAC it stirred the pot, brought a lot of attention, and ended up winning some support to the cause from high profile donors, media figures, and the rank and file.
I long for the day that gay and lesbians are really and fully accepted in the Republican Party. Until that day I'm not going to cast aspersions on whatever efforts these organizations take to further the cause.
You are also in the New England. Not exactly the epicenter for today's GOP. You should spend sometime in the bible belt to see what most of today's Republican base looks like.
But I thought Republicans supported liberty! Or is this just liberty for straight white people?
Organizers of a conservative conference in Denver this summer have told a gay Republican group it cannot have a booth at the event.

What happened to the GOP's big tent? Any ideas on that?
Actually, it will only be a problem for people who wouldn't vote GOP anyway. And this still wasn't a GOP event.
That's great and all but it all does is say that some gays REALLY want to be accepted by Republicans on other issues. I don't question that at all, what I question is: What is the point? If Democrats today were in favor of every single environmentalist policy I supported but not in favor of maintaining civil rights legislation, I wouldn't vote for them. Gays that want to be included by Republicans are basically saying: "Listen, I'm okay with all of your laws which seek to discriminate against me, and I want to be accepted by you even though we don't agree on this particular issue which you support en masse". It's absurd. Why support a party who relies homophobia to get votes?
The event organizers exercised their straight cis white male power. Sad that some people don't recognize that
