CNN Now A Pay Site (1 Viewer)

CNN wants money for me to read articles on it's website. A website that already has 8 million ads and sponsored junk. Screw them.
Sometimes I wonder if there will be a tipping point where aggressive online advertising keeps print alive.

What? I'm not seeing that

If this becomes a trend I may just pull the trigger and get myself a NYT subscription.

I don't pay for NYT or the Atlantic subscriptions. I'm sure as hell ain't gonna pay for CNN. I sorta wonder if maybe a better deal might be for news outlets to work with companies like Google or Meta and put together subscription packages that can be bundled with a premium version of Google/Meta/Amazon/whatever services. Kinda like cable-tv except it's for print.

How do you get them free?

Nothing CNN says is worth $1. Fractions of a penny is stretching it.

I either get an article gifted or sometimes catch a freebie. I miss certain content though. I don't really miss it, though, as I find journalism today disappointing - even some of the outlets I used to like.

I tried going to the site today and I get a screen that asks who my cable provider is that I can't get past to view content.
Wow......I'm having no trouble. I got the feeling from the Stelter article it was only international news. Not sure whats up

Yeah, I think you're right. I was trying to watch a video when this occured. Now it appears I can view the site.

I wouldn't object to a CNN subscription too much, but they have a pretty bad bias about Israel (Much worse than Hamas), and embarrassing editing. News media has always relied on advertising to fund it, which has largely dried up. It's a national problem for our need for good media.

CNN is effectively on a path to hit the sea bed at some point. What did you expect?

.......no doubt while scarfing KD smothered in ketchup

I don't do CNN but wandered over there out if curiosity. Looks like some articles are free, some accessed via subscription.
