(CNN) DC residents feel less safe after Trump takeover: poll
--
Overall, a 79% majority of DC residents oppose Trump’s order, according to the survey, with just 17% supportive of the decision. Most, 69%, say they’re strongly opposed.
--
Look at these numbers in a recent WAPO poll of Washington D.C. residents:

79% Oppose Trump's order
69% Strongly Oppose it
61% feel Less Safe

Where is the support for this? Why do this to a vulnerable populace?

To distract attention from the Epstein files. You think Trump gives a shit about the people of D.C.? 🙄

Those numbers are astounding. Trump is abusing these individuals, our fellow citizens.

He says tonight he will be personally patrolling the city, himself:

Here:

The point is the exploitation, to show that he can do this.

He is punishing a liberal city for being liberal, and because one of his buddies got beat up.

Quite frankly, it's abusive.

I can't wait for the Midterms to cut-off funding him. Every freaking penny.

I imagine most people don't think a city that requires military personnel is considered safe. If it does, then a lot of things have gone wrong. In this case, what's gone wrong is a president who isn't good at governance and prefers displays of force than actually addressing crime. Elect an idiot with daddy issues, get a lot of stupidity.
;)

Having military personnel roaming the streets does not give anyone the feeling of safety. I remember having NG troops at the airports going through bags after 9/11. It made me feel like shit was about to hit the fan rather than making it seem safe.

Hopefully, if we get a free and fair election, otherwise I don't see this going too well for anyone involved.

I must admit that's looking less & less likely . . .

Fake poll. People are all calling Trump and thanking him. They haven’t gone out to dinner for four years and now they can again. So much so that they went out to dinner four times this week! Record restaurant revenue. DC is great again and you just hate it. 🤣🤣🤣

Military personnel aren't for usual police work, they are for occupation and disasters.

Using them on US soil against US citizens is highly illegal.

I personally can't stand the presence of Guard or Military among civilian citizenry, either. I find it oppressive.

I agree, I've traveled in 3rd world countries that have military police on the streets. It is unsettling to see the US following that model.

With trump every accusation has been a confession. He has been talking about rigged elections since day one.....

Having to deal with Trump's inflationary and employment pressures is bad enough. But now, restaurants have to deal with falling reservations due to fear.

Ironically when 3rd world countries do that they have reasons to need military on the streets for reasons other than political intimidation.

For the 1000th time, polls are useless. IF someone told you that crimes were down and that over 700 criminals have been taken off of the streets, I doubt that most people would say that they feel less safe.

I personally would stay home and I’m a white citizen. Nobody wants America to be a police state. Senile old man is off his rocker if he thinks this is the nation we want to live in.
