CNN —
When Diesel the donkey ran away on a hike near his home outside Sacramento, California, five years ago, his owners assumed the worst.
Years passed without a sign of life from Diesel — until earlier this year, when a hunter spotted and filmed a herd of at least a dozen elk in the northern California wilderness. Among them, strangely, was a wild burro.

'No', this is not "hard" news. But it is a "feel good" story that I just couldn't resist posting. I think these animals might be able to teach us humans a thing or two about getting along despite our differences!

Enjoy!

The good news is they didn't try to recapture him. I guess he didn't lose his street smarts by being a pet.

Donkeys are very social animals, and sometime used as companions for twitchy thoroughbreds. They're none threatening and bond with many other species.
I volunteered at a huge rescue ranch, mostly horses but they had minis, farm animals, and donkeys. The donkey's personalities were the best.
