an example of the double standard. she was clearly a hostile, violent lady, who needed to be arrested. instead, this poor guy takes the fall for her violent ignorance. good game, sexism, man 0, woman 1.
I don't blame him for hitting her, she hit him first (or at least it seemed like she did). And he obviously didn't hit her all that hard, since she got right back on the bus and continued fighting with him.
Where I think the guy was in the wrong, and the transit authority was absolutely justified in firing him, was in his unprofessional behavior before it got physical. She was being a giant bitch, no doubt about it, but he wasn't responding in a professional manner. He should have just ignored her, or told her to go sit down. Instead he responded with insults and threats and escalated the situation until it got violent.
See even now you are restraining yourself calling her a lady.
damn you're right...it's like i've been conditioned...
Don't feel bad about it, we all have. And it's good conditioning, because men need to restrain themselves around women. But this woman gave up that special privilege. The bus driver restrained himself, because if she were a man she would have been bleeding, had busted teeth, and wouldn't be talking.
and yet he still gets the boot. :doh
He is a man so naturally any attempts to defend himself will always be disproportionate.
She hit him that is why he hit her. There was only a few seconds between when she hit him and he hit her,so there is no telling how much long she would have went on if he didn't defend himself.
I'm kind of mixed on this. She definitely deserved to be put in her place but it did come across as unprofessional of him.
I don't like the fact that women (some) think they should be able to strike a man and be immune from retaliation.
Actions have consequences ( which she must have been able to avoid for most of her life if she thought that was acceptable behavior ).
The controversy over this incident reminds me of something that annoys me. In general, I hate the back and forth of people wanting to exploit their differences if and only if it is in their favor. Pick one side and accept the pros and cons of that side. I believe this is a major cause for the decline in gentlemen and true ladies. If you want to be treated like a lady then act like one. If you want to be treated the same as men then don't cry "but I'm a female" in situations like this.
The woman got what she deserved. The bus driver should be congratulated.
Cleveland Bus Driver Suspended After Decking Unruly Female Rider With Brutal Bolo Punch | The Smoking Gun
A Cleveland municipal bus driver has been suspended after video surfaced this week showing him decking a mouthy female rider with a bolo punch.
The confrontation between the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) worker and the unidentified woman was apparently filmed by another rider. It is unclear from the above clip, however, what triggered the dispute.
[WARNING: The video is peppered with curse words and racial slurs.]
The driver of bus 2802 leaves his seat after the woman appears to strike him. "You going to jail now," the driver says twice before throwing an uppercut that knocks the woman to the ground.
