It's OK. It's perfectly understandable. The lure was strong. He really seemed like a breath of fresh air in our stale politics.

He seemed like the perfect response to Barack Obama. The left had a popular hero. The right needed one, too.

He pissed off the left, so the urge to support him was irresistible. (Even if not well-researched.)

It really seemed OK at first. He appeared to be a very successful businessman, and a popular entertainer with a definitive attitude. A doer and a motivator who got things done and made the difficult decisions.

That was then. This is now.

Nobody really knew how Donald was going to perform in office. It has been ghastly. He has embarrassed us and reached out to the worst people in our society. He let us down. And he has not self-financed his campaigns like he said he would. We have been asked to give and give and give! And for what? To pay lawyers??? Supporters have been forced to side with extremists, haters, xenophobes, liars, racists, criminals, fools and idiots.

They say to err is human and we learn from our mistakes.

Donald was a huge mistake. The right thing to do at this point is simply recognize the mistake, learn from it and move on. Give up on him.

That's the best stress-relieving move. So what if Democrats win. It's not so bad. We know the media over-hypes how 'bad' Democrats are. We already survived 4 years of Joe Biden. The economy really is getting better. We can survive another 4 years. Abandoning Donald now means not having to worry about regretting making the same mistake twice and feeling guilty about it later on. They really only want to tax the rich. The rest of us are fine. And immigrants actually do help the economy and pay into Social Security.

It would be really bad to continue to support him while others are giving up on him, see him lose the election, and then get sent to prison. Very regrettable.

The only want to ensure that won't happen is to just give up on him now. That is perfectly OK. And it is entirely possible that many people will be very understanding and welcome such a choice with forgiveness.

Maybe the thing to do is just sit this election out. After all, what does one vote matter, anyway. elections come and go. Regrets stick.

A good life awaits those who clear their conscience.

Remember, MAGA has shown all the signs of being a cult (leader is now placed above Jesus for some reason) RED FLAG!
You couldn't pry them out of that cult now with the jaws of life, plus, they feel victory is within their grasp!

The lure was strong.

That was no lure. It was stink bait, and yes, the smell is very strong.
Trying to identify with those who thought he was OK.

Regardless of who becomes the next President, the nation itself loses. I don't see the media "over-hyping how bad the Dems are," and I don't think that merely surviving the next 4 years is good enough.

As for immigration, as always, the issue is those who are here illegally. Certain sectors of my state's (Texas) economy have long been dependent on immigrant labor. We are grateful for it. It's a win for everybody, especially for the kids. But if you don't live in a border state and face the problems that we do, particularly in sanctuary cities, I'm not too interested in the pontificating.

Well of course there is is 'gone' base. That's one thing. But there are not enough deplorables to elect him. Then there are those who side with them over Democrats. They have got to be feeling rather uncomfortable to be associated with this piece of work.

We all have to live with our decisions. It's not always fun.

Why hasn't the GOP manned up and cut him loose? How can his daughter-in-law distribute RNC money as she, bringing to bear all her experience and wisdom in these matters, sees fit?

The hoi polloi are slaved to a cult of personality, but the republican leadership has no such excuse. This is becoming truly nightmarish.

Everyone should have known exactly how Donald was going to be in office.

He has been the same person for his entire life.

Sure, abandon Donald, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be ashamed of ever supporting him.

They have been so indoctrinated by the media that Biden is a worse choice and that Trump is a victim that they will never move off him. Those with a conscience and true conservative values already have. I was interested in the fact that over 100K Wisconsin voters voted for someone else in the primary. Almost 10%. Now if they would just pull the lever for Biden

The people you are talking about just outside the cult, you have to wonder why they are still 'in", and what would get them out at this late date?

That's a bunch of nonsense. The nation does fine without a criminal in charge.

Those who support a criminal aren't thinking clearly.

I don't see the media "over-hyping how bad the Dems are," and I don't think that merely surviving the next 4 years is good enough.
Surviving? Lmfao.

Send 'em here. Your idiot governor sends migrants to places that don't need them. What a moron.

I really am missing all this so-called "indoctrination." In fairness, though, I am so appalled by both candidates that I'm trying not to keep up. I reserve my right to change my mind at the very last minute, but as I've posted publicly, I don't think that in conscience I can cast a vote for the Presidency. This is for the first time in my entire life, and I vote in every election from local on up, but this time I just don't think I can choose the "lesser of two evils" (which I think most of us have probably done a time or two).

We in the tri-state area have known about The Donald for decades. We look at people who defend him in stunned disbelief.

Well, i assume that "you people" wasn't referring to me, but just wanted to make sure you didn't misunderstand something I said.

I hope Trump dies in prison, and think anyone who supports him should lose the right to vote.

Yes, I edited that out. My habit has always been to hit send and see how it looks on the page, then edit. This worked well when hitting send only showed the page to me, but not so well on forums.

Everything is so intense these days.

Our supposed freedoms in this country also extend to the ability to destroy it.

Our supposed freedoms in this country also extend to the ability to destroy it.

Yes, and we absolutely will do it some day.

Trump is just a symptom, and the trend that created Trump isn't going to stop when Trump is dead in a few years.

This era of self-government will be over in a few generations.

Many who voted for him didn't know about his background, or what they did understand was tainted by his BS.

That's forgivable. Doubling down is just refusing to listen to reason.

You are a better man than me if you find it forgivable.

I will never forgive or forget it. The people who support Trump aren't fit to self-govern.

Still hoping they will come to their senses, hold their nose, and vote for President Biden in November.

It's always the lessor of two not preferred choices.

Imagine a Trump you could take seriously, and that had a bit of intelligence.
