Dozens killed in clashes between Druze and Bedouin in southern Syria​

Suweida in southern Syria is a province mainly inhabited by more urban Druzes and Bedouin tribes. Much of it is held by a Druze militia loosely aligned with the new government in Damascus (as they were loose allied against Assad). But since the fall of Assad the relationship between the Druze militas and the new government is belived to have turned worse, and there has been some clashes. However rivalry between the Druzes and their Bedouin neighbors has seemingly now resulted in violence. And Israel seem to have taken an interest, as this might give them an excuse to intervene. Druzes tend to be seen as a loyal minority in Israel (even though this is far from always the case), but Syrian Druzes are not very keen on Israeli aid.

While there has been a withdrawal from Suweida, the damage was done and the message was sent. They murder for a few days or weeks and then let the survivors flee the country while trying to take credit for establishing "peace".

The State of Israel is further isolating itself and now some US officials are referring to Netanyahu as a "madman" after his country's wanton attacks on the already pulverised country of Syria. Turkish and Gulf State governments are furious with the strikes. Meanwhile Mr. Trump encourages the State of Israel to seize and hold more Syrian territory while claiming to support the new Syrian regime. Two madmen and one powder-keg spell trouble and mare suffering for civilians in the region. A new "Axis of Evil" may have emerged, but who will admit to this?

.....no..... The Arab Spring was not about us. Obama is responsible for his failure to handle it well (I think), but not for the thing in and of itself. He did not create "the beginning of the end of the Assad regime".

The Arab spring was a general Arab protest movement against autocratic regimes. It was started by Arabs. And the spring largely failed. Tunisia is an autocracy again, Egypt never stopped being one, Sudan is a mess, Yemen is a mess, Syria is....well too early to tell what it will be. But it really was started from Arab grassroots against the rule of dictators.
