Civil War in the UK

The only civil war I see in GB is within the House of Windsor and their functional disfunctionals.

I'm not saying the UK is or isn't on the verge of civil war. However that messaging is what the UK right is pushing like crazy.

It's not so much the mainstream right as the alt-right. They are supported by ordinary people who despite all the facts simply believe it to the core of their bones that the UK is swarming with illegal immigrants / about to become part of the EU again / ruled by EU law etc etc.

Many of them, like my partner's father are genuine, reasonable people but they just think Farage has gotten something to say and want to give him the chance at power.

Do you have any examples of a mainstream UK right party pushing this drivel?

I think we all need to take Reform and the type of people who support it much more seriously. Farage seems to have gotten his messaging much more on point this time compared to the other parties he's led and the opinion polls are not to be sneered at.

Things may change by the time of the next election but the mainstream parties all need to be on their toes.

They only do Reform and Tory extremists.
Yea and the "journalists" are not much better. It is a hilarious bunch of anti-Semites defending Israel and attacking immigrants when some of them are from immigrant backgrounds...

I'm not on anyone's side. Tommy Robinson and that whole crowd are morons. However we are seeing in Europe and the US are rise of race wars due to a combination of issues. Ethno-nationalism is a toxin in a society. And factualism is one of the greatest issues we're dealing with now - essentially truth is defined by ideology not facts. So if I came across as supporting this, I don't. This is a debate/discussion board and I put this topic up for discussion. I'm not saying the UK is or isn't on the verge of civil war. However that messaging is what the UK right is pushing like crazy.
Spare me the bullshit.

You seen GB news lately?
I'd respond the same. It seems GB News is the Fox News of the UK, but goes beyond where Fox is. They have guests regularly talking about civil war. The biggest mistake in the US was discounting outlets like Fox. GB News has a huge base and is spreading far right ethnonationalist ideology.

Spare me the bullshit.
What bullshit? I have no agenda beyond what I see daily around the UK political situation. I asked for clarification and presented some issues that are spread around. As I stated already, ethnonationalism is toxic and factioalism is one of the greatest issues facing the west today.

So what's the bullshit?

Take it to stormfront, dude.

One interesting difference between the UK and the US is that the UK has, for virtually all of its history, been a white European country. There is a much deeper sense of white identity in the UK than in the US. IMO, three factors create an environment for civil war: ethnonationalism, cultural devolution, and Factionalism.
Civil Wars are complicated but they tend to have an economical aspect. There tend to be a faction of Haves against a faction of Have Nots. How these factions look varies alot though.

Civil War most likely to break out within the rabid rabble of Reform UK itself:

I have the horrible people our population will vote them in to power and only then (when we get more of this kind of rubbish going on) will they understand what they have done.

I just don't see the scrutiny happening or even ordinary people looking at what Reform are proposing - Reform have the magic bullet of appearing to speak to people's concerns about immigration and that's all that matters for many.

I think what matter to many is that their name is neither Tories nor Labour.

Dr David Betz, an (American) professor in the War Studies department at King’s College, London, believes that civil war in this country is now inevitable, even if we haven’t taken this on board. Professor Betz does have an argument, and parts of it seem to me irrefutable. The three factors that he identified as leading up to civil strife in any country studied were ethnic replacement, the State’s loss of legitimacy, and “polar factionalism”. That’s not the order that he put them in. No one who is Reform UK-adjacent wants to hear that racist motives are uppermost on their agenda, but, without the fury supplied by ethnic resentment, the other motives would be insufficient for the kind of widespread slaughter that he foresees.

I'm curious to hear the thoughts of our UK members on this topic and how they might correlate with what we're seeing in the US today.

Despite this ethnic replacement hogwash, Enoch Powell was incredibly wrong. There is no chance of ethnic replacement in the UK. There is a problem with refugees and immigration but nowhere on the ethnic replacement level.

I don’t think being anti-populist necessarily means being unpopular is a good thing. The disapproval ratings of Starmer and other European leaders should be a concern. If they don’t have public support, they’ll be gone at the first opportunity voters get to remove them.

If there were elections tomorrow, Starmer, Macron, and Scholz would be removed from office yet they’re over in Washington acting like great statesmen.

I disagree, the Greens / Lib-Dems and other options exist but are not seeing the rise in ground support. You could argue that the UK Media has no interest in those options too which is why there is no sea-change.
Farage and co are getting a lot of uncritical news coverage here and have been for months. As you can see from some posts scattered around the forum, there are a lot of disgraced and former Reform elected officials in the press but nothing has been made of that really, those stories sit alongside articles humdrum everyday life in the counties on the BBC Webpage. If it was a Labour or Conservative being forced to step down - there would be questions asked of the leaders and the stories would be more prominent in the press.

Might help if Ed Davey didn’t spend his time making a tit out of himself. I feel people are moving to the wings.

Another Reformite bites the dust, Conservative leader drops the Civil War bomb:

Conservative leader Kent said: "Reform promised strong leadership – instead, residents are being subjected to civil war in their ranks, resignations, and bitter infighting.

I feel people are moving to the wings.

I sense that too - but the left wing doesn't get any airtime on British media. Especially compared to Reform's free publicity.

And those local residents will be like American MAGA - they will vote the same whatever happens.
