Christies: The Richard Gere Guitar Collection (1 Viewer)

BBC News - Richard Gere sells off guitar collection

A 110-strong guitar collection owned by Richard Gere will be auctioned in New York in October, Christie's has said. Gere said it was "more than a little painful" to let go of a collection that took 20 years to build. "They have been my true friends through the best and worst of times," he added.

Proceeds from the 11 October auction would help to fund humanitarian causes globally.

Wow, some of those estimates are on the low side!

Gotta love what Gere is doing here. It would be so easy for him to just make a donation to the cause but instead he is parting with things he loves so it has to mean more for him that way. Hopefully will encourage other collectors to perhaps make a donation.

So many gorgeous guitars and amps there.

1931 D-28 Martin --- big bucks.
1956 Gretch 6139 Country Club
1976 Gibson E-175T

Maybe the 1856 Martin 0 size but that's gotta be a fragile puppy.
