First of all, there is the mention of "Church" in the English versions of the Bible, but that (if I recall correctly) is a translation of the term ekklesia, which translates as "assembly."

However, there is "the Temple," and even Jesus got so angry that the sole incident of His use of actual violence was when He "drove the money-lenders" out of the house of God.

So the idea of places of worship is in the Bible.

However, it is also true that one does not NEED a place of worship to commune with God. But there is also no prohibition for gatherings to hear "wisdom" and offer worship.

Such "gatherings" happened frequently during the life of Jesus, as exemplified with His "Sermon on the Mount."

Point being?

While there is no "need" for a church, that does not prohibit such structures or gatherings therein.

Meanwhile, the First Amendment preserves the freedom of worship for ALL religions, not just those who use churches.

Nor is there anything in the law, or under any other circumstance allowing for vandals, rioters, governments, or any other actors to burn down churches or deface things of worship or religious art.

As you offered no "Other, Explain" option, I could not vote.

I couldn't vote for any of the choices. If people want to build churches and pray in them and pay for them + pay taxes on them, this person has no problem with that what-so-ever.

also dont need prophets or holy books or a Christ with a loving all powerful all knowing god

you dont need another human or human work to tell you anything about such a being at all

This thread is a classic example of what is wrong with religion, between human motivations and interpretations we can make Bronze Age text mean anything we need it to.

I am in favour of churches!

And also in favour of synagogues and mosques and temples and pagodes etc etc

It is a HUMAN THING!

To say "I do not need all that for my religion" is a good deal of snobbery.

as long as you know its just a human thing gets realy snobby and senseless when people start claiming its divine

I should have added: I couldn't vote for any choices..because I'm stoned. (Legally here in Florida...have the card and all that..)

Now there's a shocker...
