Shit just got real folks. This could shut down economies.

I avoid Walmart, haven't been inside one in years, before I got married I went for years without buying anything made in China. It wasn't always easy to find an alternative that wasn't made in China. I say this because Walmart won't survive this. I won't miss them but that's tons of working people who aren't going to have a job.

I don’t think the MAGA base has given much thought to the ramifications these trade wars are going to have in their local communities.

It can quickly become a chain reaction.

People of Wal-Mart (remember that site?) = basically MAGA

Wal-Mart's supply chain just got trashed. Even during the Covid recession they didn't have to deal with that.

I deplore Walmart and have been screaming about Walmart from the rooftops for years.

But, Walmart has decimated local economies and become the “only game in town” in many of them.

Walmart falls and a lot of those red areas will be economically crushed. They don’t have anything else to fall back on.

Walmart is one of the single largest employers in the US. And, those jobs are located in some of our most economically depressed areas.

One example of the impact farmers are feeling...

All I can say is, between the exchange rate and tarriffs what a boost to cross border shopping ! There are one hell of a lot of Americans who can only afford Walmart, Target and Dollar stores.

Dow futures are -741. Play stupid games...
What hurts the portion of my heart that’s still capable of sympathy for the idiots caught up in the MAGA cult - is that it didn’t have to be this way.

It's literally like dumbass MAGA voters don't know that you can sit down and have adult negotiations with other nations about tons of stuff (trade, intelligence, technology, health, etc).

Nope, they think attacking is the only thing that works when, in truth, attacking gets you the OPPOSITE result that you want LONG TERM. And it's because the people you attack get emotional and creative and pissed and find any way they can to bend you over even when you don't know they're doing it.

Yet when a Walmart closes, everyone is upset about it:

It will shut down the Chinese economy...or Xi will be ousted.

This is what it's all about with respect to China...

Good for them.

Never thought I’d find myself cheering for China…but here we are.

Trump has the US acting like a school yard bully.

Citizens and leaders all across the world are now cheering for China. That Trump makes a ruthless dictatorship into the "good guy".

"The president made the bold remark during a 90-minute address as he attempted to court political donors at the National Republican Congressional Committe’s annual fundraising dinner in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday evening.

“These countries are calling us up, kissing my a**” to negotiate deals on tariffs, Trump said just hours before his reciprocal duties went into effect against dozens of nations just after midnight on Wednesday, including a 104 percent levy on Chinese imports.

“They are,” he emphasized. “They are dying to make a deal.”

The president went on to mock the tariff-deal supplicants, pretending to be them as he pitifully pleaded in a simpering voice: “Please, Sir, make a deal. I’ll do anything. I’ll do anything, Sir.”"

Trump thinks he's an irresistible force...

...welp, here's an immovable object to prove it on. A trade partner Trump can't minimize or dominate.

Let's get this over with, so we can start picking up the pieces.

Yeah, about that.

Trump is deliberately driving the global economy into a ditch. Meanwhile, Republicans are demanding big cuts to federal spending. If the Federal Reserve cuts interest rates, that will exacerbate the inflation caused by the tariffs.

Meaning this time, the US government is unlikely to provide much, if any, relief from the next recession -- which will make it much, much worse than recent recessions. The world will be lucky if it's a repeat of the 2008 recession.
