I distinguish between conservatives and MAGAs.
I don’t think a single actual conservative supports this - it is antithesis of traditional conservative “free market capitalism” support.
The Post is not a valid source.
The Post is not a valid source.
Can you find the article posted by another source?
it's hilarious you attack the NYP as source, when if you had any comprehension the "laptop" story was broken by the Post.Nope.
Hunter's laptop is a non-story. It was manufactured to attack the Bidens. Nothing but a petty vengeance tactic by dumpletits.
TDS @ work. It's a dicey situation. all I can do is weigh the facts, and try to extrapolate how it's going to break. The wailing and gnashing of teeth you hear are the board leftists...

virtually every other source - including LW swill- agrees the story of Hunter and the Biden family grifters is fact
Normally I wouldn't bring this up, but since you seem to constantly decry any source not LW, maybe you'll get a clue
Nothing from the source is to be believed.I responded to the ops post of the link and the ops cited "facts". You should ask the op author for another source.
As it stands, I do not agree with the article's opinion or the op writer's opinion, but I assume the facts stated are generally true but also misleading.
Use of the phrase "TDS" automatically disqualifies your post.TDS @ work. It's a dicey situation. all I can do is weigh the facts, and try to extrapolate how it's going to break.
I honestly do not know. I DO KNOW letting China fester with malign trade has been the norm since they joined the WTO.
This might be our very last chance to get them to clean up their act.. their economy has structural problems. we do as we
some empirical data
The Korean press has confirmed that “the United States and China have begun behind-the-scenes contact in relation to the ‘tariff war,’ ” and a high-ranking Chinese delegation was photographed entering the US Treasury Department in the early morning hours of April 24.Despite their denials, China is losing the tariffs war and retreating as fast as it can
Beijing’s biggest worry is not a tariff recession, but the social unrest that will follow.nypost.com
America is by far China’s largest customer, absorbing about one-sixth of China’s exports. If the tariffs stay in place for any length of time, economists estimate that 80% of China’s goods will be priced out of the American market, representing a loss of almost $400 billion.
- They are in the huge piles of containers that missed the April 9 tariff deadline, sitting in Chinese ports. These are filled with goods that the tariffs have priced out of the US market. Meanwhile, cargo bookings for container voyages between China and the US are down by half.
- They are in deserted factory floors all along the coast of China, where workers are being laid off by the tens of thousands. Textile, toy, electronic, and furniture factories are just a few of the industries being crushed by the tariffs.
- They are in the empty streets and shuttered shops of the surrounding industrial towns and cities, whose one-time customers — the now unemployed factory workers — can’t afford to eat or shop in their favorite noodle stand or convenience stores.
As many as 10 million Chinese workers might lose their jobs over the next few weeks, says Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, a number that could easily double in the months that follow as the ripple effects of the slowdown tear through the economy.
The CCP is suffering uncontrollable deflation which is why the CCP Bois in Bejing are not enforcing their own 125% tariffs against US imports. Deflation hasn't changed so the Chinese aren't buying anyway regardless. We must recognize during this epidemic of @anatta threads that US imports from China constitute less than 3% of China's overall GDP and that share has been dropping for some time. China has a massive domestic consumer base of what is rapidly approaching a billion middle class individuals, and has been shifting its economy toward domestic consumption for some time. Obviously @anatta isn't aware of any of this and, well, he's only allowed to redistribute talking points given to him by the media, hence we will have at least a few more threads like this until Donald finally capitulates, at which point the threads will change to either (a) his 5D chess and toned physique or (b) the immigrants.
Xi and Trump are going to collapse into each other and lower the tariffs by at least a half.Exactly. China has been crystal clear that they're not even interested in discussions until Donald walks back his unilateral tariffs. @anatta, @gbg3 and their ilk don't realize that in the past ~decade China's exports to the US have remained flat while its exports to the rest of the world have nearly doubled and its internal consumption has grown a similar amount. China's total exports to the United States amount to at most a fraction of their annual increase in GDP growth. We're in the noise for them, but our MAGA don't know any better, so they'll keep starting threads like these.
not at all. but you do have to consider Jiānrěn de (stoicism) of the population. The CCP is counting on it as a counter to our whining commercialismIs this NY Post having a wet dream or what?
It feels like Steven Mosher put on his MAGA cap sideways and fantasized a "Xi begs Trump for mercy" storyline. This isn’t analysis; it’s fan fiction in the service of war rhetoric. Trump's tariffs may very well hit China hard, but Mosher is more interested in portraying Xi as a pathetic dictator and Trump as some macho king than in providing a realistic picture of global trade.

Household spending in the CCP is 40% of GDP whereas in the West it's between 60% to 70% -- in the UK and USA it's upwards of 80%. The CCP relies a lot on exports which is what the madman Trump wants the USA to do. Plus historically the Chinese are compulsive savers which is another major factor for the deflation the CCP cannot bring under any measure of control.
The major cause of the runaway deflation debilitating the CCP economy is the public's loss of confidence in Xi Jinping's economics. When Xi assumed power in 2013 GDP growth was just shy of 10%. This year it will be 3% as under Xi GDP growth has shrunk unrelentingly. Xi is a Maoist fanatic, he rejects Deng Xaio Ping's economics of development and wealth. Xi is an ideologue who demands conformity plus.
thats a very strongly worded statement. i dont disagreeXi is a Maoist fanatic, he rejects Deng Xaio Ping's economics of development and wealth. Xi is an ideologue who demands conformity plus.
Frankly, from a purely professional point of view, the upper ranks of the PRC's government allowing Xi to keep his grip on power is surprising. For decades, the PRC is one of two governing entities I had to maintain an updated file on and I can state that the PRC upper ranks are some clever-clever folks. But this time around I am confused. But I am lucky, as I am essentially retired and hope to stay that way until - - - well, we don't know when "until" will happen. Was supposed to happen a few years ago and it didn't.thats a very strongly worded statement. i dont disagree
I posit that anything from @Mycroft's mouth (fingers) is not valid.
Tariffs most directly will impact the Americans who have the least amount of money to spare.
A working class American who can barely keep their head above water will now find themselves paying more for items they need.
And you find this “winning”?
Jesus the idiocracy of how MAGAs twist themselves into pretzels to try to “own the libs” and defend Trump is astounding.
Conservatives have found a tax they like. It will mostly be paid by the poor and working class. Those that haven't been paying much if any income tax.
Trump exempted Chinese electronics from the tariffs.Like Chinese made electronics. I mean, those who spend money on food, rent, utilities, gas won't have any impact from tariffs - but the poor don't spend their money on those things..
The tariffs will impact items sold in Walmart, Target and Dollar stores the most. You mean like lying that "Tariffs most directly will impact the Americans who have the least amount of money to spare?" That kind of twisting?
Are the Marxists in the room with you currently?I mean, because the poor and working class are the biggest consumers of non-necessity goods.
Effing Marxists and the idiotic lies they tell...

Judging from your posts you seem to be unaware about exactly what products from China have had tariffs applied to them.I mean, because the poor and working class are the biggest consumers of non-necessity goods.
